TEXTILE CONFECTION TECHNICIAN

MODULE 1: LAYING OUT, MARKING AND CUTTING PIECES.

GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To carry out the pattern drafting, layout, cutting


and prepared pieces, according to the specifications of the garment model.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: Conduct the study of the garment model and determine the various
components.
Develop the base pattern and its accessories.
Lay out the fabric, considering the technical criteria.
Mark and trace the patterns on the fabric according to their characteristics.
Cut the pieces, considering the technical specifications.
Perform preventive maintenance on the cutting and sewing machines.

KNOWLEDGE:
Organizational structure of the cutting workshop: basic knowledge of: Different positions of
existing jobs in the cutting workshop. Functions and responsibilities of each position.
Patterns: Symbolism, signs, and descriptions. Pieces that make up the garment.
Fabrics: Classification. Fundamental characteristics. Actual width.
Usable width.
Layout: Layout techniques. Mould distribution systems. Stripe matching.
Tools used for tracing, such as chalk, pencil, measuring tape, and metal ruler.
Standard consumption by type of garment. Performance calculation. Average consumption by
garment.
Laying: Laying techniques. Procedures. Types of laying.
Features and recommendations. Location of junctions.
Laying losses. Machines (ex tenter) and tools (ruler, tape measure, pins,
ticket printer and numbering machine.
Use, classification, and basic maintenance. Standard consumption by type of garment.
Calculation of actual yield and average consumption per garment. Layout of the working area.
Basic characteristics of the cutting table.
Cutting: Cutting techniques. Procedures. Quality criteria for recognition of a
good stitching, laying, and cutting.

garment.

MODULE 2: Garment Making

GENERAL OBJECTIVE: To make clothing and textile items for production


industrial.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: Interpret the work orders to organize the tasks.


Adjust the machine elements necessary for sewing, according to the
technical recommendations.
Make shirts according to the technical recommendations.
Make pants according to technical recommendations.
Make skirts according to technical recommendations.
Make t-shirts according to the recommendations

KNOWLEDGE:
Organizational structure of the sewing workshop: Basic knowledge of: Different
existing jobs in the sewing workshop. Functions and responsibilities of each
position.
Clothing and textile articles: Clothing, the pieces that make it up and its
main characteristics. Basic signs on each piece of clothing, whether it is a skirt,
t-shirt, shirt, pants or textile article. Variety of textile articles, pieces and
main characteristics. Sequence of operations.
Preliminary operations. Assembly operations. Terminal operations.

model specifications.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: Carry out the labeling and enabling of the garments.
Finish the garments, considering the technical recommendations.
Fold and pack the finished garments properly.

KNOWLEDGE:
Organizational structure of the finishing and applications workshop: Basic knowledge of:
Different job positions available in the finishing workshop. Functions and
responsibilities of each position.
Quality: Recognition of commonly found flaws in garments: Sewing,
such as puckering, skipped stitches, burst seams, and picked seams. Made of fabric,
such as, holes, stains, contaminations, perforations, streaks, spots, shades
between pieces and accessories. Classification of garments. Practical examples

Methodology for taking measurements, according to the type of garment.
