Scaffold Inspector

Dear

In terms of CR 16(2). I, _________________________, hereby appoint you as the Scaffolding inspector.

A contractor must appoint a competent person in writing who must ensure that all scaffolding work operations
are carried out under his or her supervision and that all scaffold erectors, team leaders and inspectors are
competent to carry out their work
A contractor using access scaffolding must ensure that such scaffolding, when in use, complies with the safety
standards incorporated for this purpose into these Regulations under section 44 of the Act.

As part of your duties, you are also responsible for the following:

1. Supervision of installation and dismantling of scaffolding on the premises.


2. The keeping of proper records of all scaffold inspections.
3. Ensuring that all scaffolding is correctly numbered.
4. Scaffolding to be inspected immediately after erection, before use and every 3 days that it remains in
place. Scaffolding must be inspected each time its position is changed after a rainstorm.
5. All inspections to be recorded on the checklist and given to the Health and Safety Officer/ Co-ordinator.
6. Ensure all scaffold is erected according to standard (SANS 10085-1)
