STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
Introduction:
As we enter the 21st century with new hopes and new expansions, it is imperative that we appreciate the world
around us changing rapidly, the growing trend of globalization, developments in information technology and the vast
emergence of the digital era due to Covid-19 pandemic, we have witnessed changes in the world of finance. It is this
challenging environment which I intend to contribute to by providing meaningful and optimal solution to various
finance industry. This is the key factor which has influenced my decision to pursue MSC Accounting and Finance.
About my Qualification:
I was in eleventh grade when I was introduced to the theoretical field of commerce. I have always been intrigued
and enthusiastic about Accounting. Furthermore, pursuing these subjects in grade eleventh and twelfth helped me
to understand their concepts vividly and develop interest in them. Further, I graduated from Jesus & Mary College,
Delhi University securing a degree in Bachelors of Commerce along with a CGPA of 8.2. This course taught me the
real & basic structure of Accounting and finance as well as proved highly beneficial to me as it led me closer to my
aspirations.
I interned with Price Water House Coopers for 4 weeks (June 2018- July 2018) under the Income Tax Department. I
worked on tasks such as filing the income tax for prestigious companies, contacted assignees to enquire about their
information and attended meetings with my division partner to record minutes of the meeting. During my
internship, I accrued rich experience & in depth understanding in such a short span of time.
Fortunately, I was campus placed with Deloitte Touch Tohmatsu Limited and right after my graduation I started
working under the capacity of an Audit Assistant. I considered this as the turning point of my life. Over the span of 2
years, I worked on public and private clients such as Mitsubishi International Corporation, International Paper, IP
touch group and many more which drastically boosted my confidence and encouraged me to handle numerous task
simultaneously. Working on the key areas of statutory audit majorly including Revenue, Account receivables, Cash,
Account payable assisted me in understanding different framework of accounting. Gleefully, I was awarded the Spot
award for managing and executing the quarter and yearly audit of Mitsubishi International Paper.
Why UK?
The UK has retained its position as a popular study destination among international students. The world is evolving
day by day and this raises the need to update our knowledge and skills according to the advancement. During my
work experience, I felt a need of updating my knowledge and this led me towards the decision of continuing my
study from an International destination. I choose UK for my further studies because it provides a wide range of
courses for International student as well as a perfect study environment. UK motivates their courses with practical
knowledge whereas in my home country the knowledge is restricted within the theoretical practice. Moreover, the
study and living expenses in UK are reasonable and affordable for International students as compared to other
countries. The availability of faculty and education is far better in UK. UK has always been the centre of excellence
for providing quality education and the qualifications obtained are recognized globally.
Why not India?
The Indian education system does not offer practical knowledge to the students, slowing down their learning
process and restricting their growth in particular study fields. Lack of practical knowledge restricts the
student’s potential to grow in the real world. It doesn’t allow them to know their potential and learn new
skills. Another reason why the Indian education system still lags behind other top nations is because of the
lack of global recognition. Degrees from the Indian universities are not that much preferred or valued globally,
and studying having such degrees often loses preference over students having degrees from UK or USA
universities. It is a reality that is miserable yet evident, even after spending numerous years and investing a
great deal of effort acquiring a degree from an Indian college, the individual will not be able to get a proper
job in contrast with somebody having the same abilities and equivalent experience level but from another
nation.

Why MSC Accounting and Finance:
MSc Accounting and Finance involves looking at money, business and management while finance solely
concerns organizations’ monetary funds. Subjects that fall under the broad spectrum of business and
administrative studies, including Business & Finance, benefit from the most culturally diverse student cohort of
all. My desired aim is to nurture myself in the field of finance from a world class university as it would equip me for
my future aspirations. I believe the curriculum and the modules at this University will help me fuel my career
towards becoming successful in my field with your university because a student success is based on his institutions
foundation. Over 55,000 of the UK's students in this area come from overseas. A diverse cohort will not only
expose you to people of different cultures but can provide you with an international network of contacts.
During my time with University of Birmingham, this course will give me the opportunity to:
• Gain a solid grasp of Accounting, financial management and business strategy and demonstrate how
these are being applied in today’s business world.
• Attain a wide breadth of knowledge across both disciplines of business and finance while developing
skills often quoted by employers as lacking in graduates including critical evaluation, self-direction and
problem-solving, and IT skills.
• Apply theory to real-life scenarios that you might encounter on a day-to-day basis as a professional.
Future Plan:
As for my plans, I hope to acquire expertise in accountancy and finance thatwill enable me to work as a
professional in a multinational company. With the management of financial information underpinning all
business activities, there are more employment and career opportunities in accounting and finance than many
other areas of study. This degree will prepare me for a rewarding career in any sector of the economy. I may
work as a Financial Accountant, Forensic Accountant, Management Accountant, Auditor, Chief Financial
Officer, Financial Advisor and Tax Specialist. As I will be studying in the UK, my curriculum is best tailored and
fit for my career in number of sectors, including Professional Accountancy (in practice and industry),
Investment Banking, Investment Analysis, Management Consultancy, and Financial Management. My wish is
to work with a well-reputed organization where I can utilize my knowledge. India does not lack opportunities
in the economy sector, so I want to settle a job in India and live with my family.
