To participate call Shelly Courneya at 613-591-0411, by email shelly_courneya@hotmail.com or visit www.BreastStrokeGolfTournament.com On June 19 Ill be a participant in the Relay for Life in Stittsville, raising funds for cancer research. This is an all night team event that is very moving as you walk along the track lit by candles in bags that are memorials to those whove been affected by cancer. There are many more good causes to support in our community and I urge you to do what you can to help others. Youll get a lot of satisfaction from doing so.

WARD COUNCIL NEXT MONDAY

There is a great deal happening at City Hall this week and the Ward Council meeting next Monday, Apr. 27, at 7 pm in the Program Room of the Kanata Seniors Centre, 2500 Campeau Drive, will feature discussions on those matters. These include the stadium issue, changes in governance, the Carp River report, the Official Plan, child care in Kanata North, an Economic Strategy for Ottawa and more. There will be an update on development items as well as report from our community policing officer. I will be looking for your feedback on these major policy areas, particularly on the way in which the City conducts its business.

TAMIL DEMONSTRATIONS
Many people have been inconvenienced by the ongoing demonstrations at Parliament Hill. These demonstrations are a legal right and have been peaceful. City Council has no say in such demonstrations as they are under control of the police and provincial law does not permit anyone, including Council and the Police Services Board, from directing police operations. As this is a federal demonstration, any concerns should be made to the federal government.

FACILITY ALLOCATIONS
City staff have undertaken a review of allocating usage of arenas and sports fields. They are presently consulting groups who use these facilities. If you have suggestions or concerns you are to forward them to the City by May 27, 2009 by email to sports@ottawa.ca, by fax at 613-580-2683 or by mail to City Wide Allocations, 101 Centrepointe Drive, Ottawa, ON, K2G 5K7. After comments are received and consolidated, a report will be sent to Committee and Council. Your views are important as there is more demand for the use of facilities than can be accommodated and it is important that all groups are treated fairly.
