It may not work properly on an uneven surface. Place this humidifier in an area where it is not accessible to children. If the plug should still fail to fit, contact an electrician to replace the obsolete outlet. DO NOT defeat the safety purpose of the polarized plug. The humidifier should always be unplugged and emptied when not in operation or while being serviced or cleaned. Never tilt or attempt to move the humidifier while it is operating or filled with water. UNPLUG the humidifier before moving. This humidifier requires regular cleaning. Refer to the CLEANING instructions provided. Never clean the humidifier in any manner other than as instructed in this manual. SET UP

NOTE: We recommend that the humidifier be disinfected prior to first use. Please see CLEANING instructions.
o o

Select a firm, level, flat location at least six inches (15 cm) from any wall for proper air flow (Fig. 1). Place the humidifier on a water-resistant surface, as water can damage furniture and some flooring.

Duracraft will not accept responsibility for property damage caused by water spillage.

FILLING
1. 2. Remove the Power Unit by pulling up (Fig. 1). Fill the Base with COOL tap water to the Fill Level indent located on the outside back of the unit. DO NOT USE HOT WATER. Doing so may damage the humidifier.

3. NEVER ADD ANY CHEMICALS OR SOLUTIONS TO THE WATER. NOTE: Water quality and hardness can vary greatly. If you notice white dust accumulating in your room, the quality of your water is most likely hard . In this case it is strongly recommended that only distilled or de-mineralized water be use. 3. Position the Power Unit into the base and push into place. 4. Once the Power Unit has been positioned, do not attempt to move the humidifier. If it has to be moved, unplug the humidifier and empty the Base first. NOTE: DO NOT POUR WATER INTO THE GRILL ON THE TOP OF THE POWER UNIT. DOING SO MAY DAMAGE THE HUMIDIFIER OR CAUSE PERSONAL INJURY.

Plug the filled humidifier into a polarized 120V outlet. DO NOT FORCE THE POLARIZED PLUG INTO THE OUTLET; it will only fit one way. The humidifier will begin to operate and will run continuously as soon as it is plugged in.

o o

Turn the humidifier OFF or unplug if the humidity level feels too moist or you notice condensation forming on the walls and/or windows. ALWAYS be sure to discard any unused water in the Base each time you refill the humidifier or finished using it.

CLEANING THE HUMIDIFIER

We recommend cleaning the humidifier once a week, more often if you have hard water, notice a build up of impurities or detect unpleasant odors. Cleaning involves two steps SCALE REMOVAL and DISINFECTING. Be sure to perform these in the proper order to avoid harmful chemical interactions.
o o

Turn off and/or unplug the humidifier. Remove the Power Unit and turn upside down (Fig. 3).

Discard any remaining water from the base. Remove the Impeller Shaft (Fig. 4). Grip the Impeller Shaft with fingers of one hand. With the thumb and index finger of the other hand squeeze a impeller wing and locking tab together until you hear the tab snap free (Fig. 5). Lift the shaft up to remove it from the Power Unit. Set the rest of the Power Unit aside.

STEP ONE: SCALE REMOVAL 1. Fill the Base with either: one cup (8 oz's) of undiluted white vinegar OR use DuraRinse Humidifier Cleaner, part no. AC-816, following bottle instructions 2. Place the Impeller Shaft into the solution in the Base; let stand for 20 minutes. 3. With the vinegar or DuraRinse in the Base clean all interior surfaces with a soft cloth or brush to help remove scales.

4.

Rinse the Base thoroughly with water to remove scale and cleaning solution.

STEP TWO: DISINFECTING 1. Fill the Base with: 1 teaspoon of household bleach 1 gallon of water. Place the Impeller Shaft into the solution in the Base; let stand for 20 minutes Rinse with water until the odor of bleach is gone.

2. 3.

NOTE: THE USE OF OTHER WATER TREATMENT PRODUCT, SOAPS, DETERGENTS OR ABRASIVE CLEANERS NOT RECOMMENDED IN THE MANUAL MAY CAUSE DAMAGE THE HUMIDIFIER; THEREBY, HINDERING THE HUMIDIFIERS EFFECTIVENESS.
o

Reassemble Power Unit Place Impeller Shaft over the Power Unit, lining up the tabs (Fig. 6). Relock the parts by using the index finger to grasp a short wing behind the tab while holding the thumb on the tab. Squeeze together until you hear the tab lock.

END-OF-THE-SEASON CARE AND STORAGE

o o o

Follow weekly CLEANING instructions when the humidifier will not be used for at least one week or more, or at the end of the season. Let the humidifier dry completely before storing. DO NOT store with water inside the base. Pack the unit in its original carton and store in a cool, dry location.
