Check ramp area clear of debris.

1B

Install wheel chocks.

1C

Install nose and main landing gear safety pins (only for A/C having layover of 2 hrs or
more).

1D

Place the towing lever in the TOW POSITION and install lock-pin for pushback or
towing.

1E

If the aircraft electrical network is not energized perform a safety check to ensure
proper position of controls and switches before energizing the network. Energize the
aircraft electrical network.

Upon arrival of the aircraft inspect all cargo door surrounds.

1G

Check aircraft is free of ice and snow. If required perform Ground De-Icing i.a.w. EPM
09-46)

1H

For flights arriving into any station reported to encounter volcanic ash:
(Not applicable to flight Crew)
Carry out external visual inspection to determine if the aircraft has flown through
volcanic ash - refer to TN 05-004 latest revision, Paragraph (B) 2, for guidance. If there
is evidence of volcanic ash exposure, contact MCC for further action.

TRANSIT ITEMS
Perform a General Visual Inspection [As Visible From Ground Level], of all airplane
exterior areas for the following conditions [as applicable]::

Obvious damage (Impact / FOD).

Fluid leakage. ( Pay particular attention to the 7 drain / drain mask areas )

Security and condition of parts

Missing parts

Positive Press. Relief Valve: Closed (bright colored edge on valve not visible).

Missing overpressure discharge discs.

Obstruction of inlets and outlets.

Tail Strike assembly damage.


Pay particular attention to Static Sources and fuselage skin in this area.
Damage to the RVSM critical area (24 horizontal and 24 vertical from the
static port, SRM 51-10-03 for details) must be repaired prior to RVSM dispatch.
Check and ensure that the Static Sources are free of any obstruction/foreign
object and that they are clean, including their surrounding areas.
