One main thing you need to know about the Cordillera is that the Cordillera is
made up of three main chains. The three chains are interior, eastern, and
western chain. The Eastern chain runs North to South and the mountains that
makes this chain is mainly the Mackenzie and Rocky mountains. The Interior
chain is made up of the Columbia, Skeena and Ogilvie mountains. Last but
not least the Western chain is made up of coast mountains which run along
the coast of the Pacific Ocean. Moving on some important river systems that
are in the Cordillera are the Yukon, Fraser, Peace, Athabasca and the
Mackenzie river.By the way did you know the Mackenzie river is one of the
longest rivers in Canada? Now i think you learned that the Cordillera is made
of three main chains and also a fun fact!

If you don?t know already the Cordillera is full of natural resources. The
interior plateaus is a very good for ranching because the of the large areas of
flat land. The Southern interior of British Columbia is good for farming
because of the rich soil and warm temperatures. Did you know the trees in
the Cordillera actually grow faster because of the wet climate? Some types of
trees are lodgepole pine, White spruce, Black spruce, Alpine fir and many
more as you know if there is a pro there also is a con like in 2013 when a huge
fire broke out it took three months to stop 1,000 homes were burned even
though no lives were taken but it was still pretty bad.Minerals is an important
role for miners who mine in the Cordillera. In the Northern interior (Yukon)
you can find zinc, gold, silver and lead. Something you can find lots of in the
Cordillera is coal and it is a very important natural resource because it is used
very commonly used.Speaking of mining in Apr.29, 1903 there was a frank
slide that was caused by turtle mountain that buried half of the town of Frank
in ninety seconds. Some scientists think the Frank slide was caused by miners
mining at the base of the mountain.Oil is also huge resource and is very
common in the Cordillera which attracts lots of people from the oil industry,
but oil is not the most important resource the most important resource is
water. Water from lakes and rivers provides lots of things like water to drink,
plants and livestock, hydroelectric power, water for industries, and last but
not least recreational activities. The waters of the pacific coast is very good for
fish habitats because the rivers carry nutrients from land to ocean. This helps
kelp and seaweed grow which provides habitats for the smaller fish that
would eventually be ate be the bigger fish for lunch. Now I think you have
learned all about natural resources in the Cordillera.

Veget at ion
By: Kat elyn Jon eja
The Cordillera region has all kinds of different vegetation. In
the Cordillera region there are temperate rainforests which
allows many things to grow. In Boreal forests spruce, pine and
aspen trees grow everywhere. Red cedar, douglas fir, and
skitaspuce trees also grow in the Cordillera region. Did you
know in the coastal areas of the Cordillera region trees grow
so large they are some of the largest trees in Canada. On the
highland meadows lupines, daisies, and columbines grow
everywhere. It is so warm in the Cordillera region that you can
grow pears, apples, cherries, and even peaches. The Pacific
Dogwood is the official floral emblem of British Columbia. In
the Yukon plants don?t survive very well. The official flower of
Alberta is the Wild Rose and the official the tree is the
Lodgepole. The Lodgepole is very important to Alberta?s
industry. As you can see vegetation in the Cordillera region is
very different from one another.

Okanagen Lake area it spread to two hundred six square
kilometers of land and destroyed two hundred thiry eight
homes.
-Did you know that the Klondike gold rush was located in the
Cordillera Region it started in 1896 on August 17th and the
amount of gold is equal to 50 million dollars.

I-t
is fascinating to know that Alberta has more
than six thousand Rocky Mountain Big Horn
sheep.
- Have you ever been to Della Falls? Della Falls
is the highest waterfall in the region, its height
is four hundred forty.
