LESSON : Jack and the Beanstalk
TYPE OF LESSON : enriching students' vocabulary - extracurricular activity

AIMS :
 developing imagination and artistic sensibility,
 educating the ability to relate to others , cooperation between partners ,
stimulating their talents and skills ,
 improving pronunciation ,
 creating a warm atmosphere.

SPECIFIC COMPETENCES :
 to play the role of a dramatization using speech dialogue, nuance of voice,
intonation
 to identify with the character;
 to use speaking dialogue;
 to play through scenic game fairy tale characters, moods;
 to speak clearly and grammatically correct;

MATERIALS : stage decoration, costumes, masks, stage effects, computer,


background music;
METHODS : conversation, lecture, discovery, spontaneous and directed observation,
role play, group work, scenography and direction of the show, verbal instruction and
verbal appreciation.
SKILLS: speaking, reading, listening
CLASSROOM INTERACTION : individual , frontal work
LOCATION : the classroom
TIME : 50 minutes
ACTIVITY 1 : greeting & warming up
Procedure : Teacher greets class and students greet teacher. They creat the necessary
conditions for a good development of the activity ( the arrangement of scenery and
materials – the castle , the beanstalk , the hen with golden eggs , the cow).
Students dress up for the start of the activity and expect to enter the scene
( Characters – narrator , Jack , mother , old man , giant ).
Interaction : teacher - students
Time : 10 minutes

ACTIVITY 2 : announcing the theme


Procedure : Teacher announces the theme of the extracurricular activity
( the play “ Jack and the Beanstalk”)
The teachers participating in the activity are invited to watch a program presented
by the students from 7th grade . ( Dear teachers / Welcome to our school / Today, we
will be actors. / Wait and you will see / Like the heroes of the stories / Up on stage they
will arise / We will get this play started / so you can enjoy the story)
Interaction : teacher - students
Time : 2 minutes

ACTIVITY 3 : the development of the activity


Procedure : The play begins ( Narrator : “ Once upon a time there was a boy called
Jack. He lived in a small cottage with his mother. Jack and his mother were very poor.
All they had was a cow.”)
Students dressed appropriately, interpret roles using speech dialogue, nuance voice
and intonation.
The play ends ( Narrator : “ Jack was right. The hen laid a golden egg every day and
Jack and his mother were never poor again.”)
Interaction : student - student
Time : 15 minutes

ACTIVITY 4 : PPT presentation about Halloween


Procedure : Using the video projector , teacher presents a PPT about the significance
of Halloween , origin and history , Halloween customs , symbols , superstitions ,
jokes , wishes and also different pictures with students dressed up in Halloween
costumes .
Interaction : teacher -students
Time : 20 minutes

ACTIVITY 5 : appreciation
Procedure : Teacher makes judgments about children's behavior during work .
Teacher thanks the guests for attending the activity . Then she says “Good-bye” and
leaves the classroom.

Time : 3 minutes
