 About Me
Hello, and welcome to my portfolio. Inside you will see some of my
best work that I have done in my academic career as well as some free-
lance work I have done in the past 3 years. In this section I will tell you a
little about me and my background.

My name is Joshua Young and I was born in Amarillo, Texas. I moved

to Kansas when I was four years old. I grew up in Burlington and attended
school there from Preschool to Graduation. In 7th Grade I went out for
wrestling. I wrestled all throughout High School, but I was never good at it
until my Sophomore year. It was this year that I started feeling really pas-
sionate about Wrestling and dedicated alot to the sport.

prepared from scratch and served hot!

This is a menu that I made for a restaurant that I worked at all throughout High School. I did
the whole project from start to finish. This included obtaining details of what the customer
wanted, photographing the dishes, editing the images, designing the layout, having the
customer approve the design, preparing the file for output, printing 50 copies, laminating,
spiral binding, and corner rounding the final product. I then hand delivered them to the
customer who gave me very positive feedback.
Among entering these into the Regional PIA Graphix contest, I received Honorable Mention.

This is a design I took on while I was part of the Student Senate at FHTC. They were in need of a
flyer to advertise a disc golf activity we were going to host, so I volunteered to make and print
it for them. This was a web based image, as it was emailed out across campus along with the
information.

These were some of my favorite assignments. These are from several different classes. In the
picture above I had to find a picture online and trace it using illustrator. I chose a game cube and
I am pretty happy with how it came out, considering that I was still new to Illustrator at the time.
The assignment to the right (bottom) was an assignment where we had to go take a picture of
a building scene and illustrate it. I chose the Industrial Engineering building at FHTC. The top
illustration was inspired by the bottom assignment. I liked how the first one turned out and
decided to create another.

Flint Hills Technical College hosted a mini disc golf tournament at their course. They
needed a design for the t-shirts that they were selling at the tournament. Our teacher in
my Screen Printing Projects class decided to have all of the students in his class design a
t-shirt for the tournament and have the planner pick one of the designs. This is my design
and it was chosen and printed at the tournament.

Baby Shower Shirt DESIGNED IN:

This is a shirt I designed and pressed for a client. They asked for shirts for their baby shower,
and this is the design that they liked. It was a two color heat transfer job using black and
metallic gold vinyl.

La Hacienda 75 Logo DESIGNED IN:

This is the logo that I made for La Haceinda 75 when they rebranded. this sign is used in all of
their advertisements. Including their street sign, all of their new menus, table tents, a marker
board, their shirts, etc.

 Bitmap Technique Poster DESIGNED IN:

The poster to the right was an assignment that I

made in my Photo Software class at FHTC using a
Bitmap Technique. The Poster on top is the same
assignment, but it was the example I used when I
was teaching that class. I really like that you can
see the growth as time has went on and I have had
more practice in the programs.

This is an example that I used to demonstrate a “Pop Art” design in the theme of Andy Worhal’s
paintings for the Photo Software class that I taught.

 Redraw Illustration DESIGNED IN:

This is a demonstration that I made for my Photo Software class. The Assignment was called
“Redraw Illustration”. On this assignment they were to print an image out, hand trace some
of the outlines, rescan the traced image. Then they will put the redraw into the original image
and further illustrate the image.

client. It was my first time doing portraits. We
went to three different locations and had three
different outfit changes. The photo session
lasted about 1.5 hours and I gave her 20-30
