Test

The researcher collected data using tests to measure students' writing ability. Tests are an important part of teaching and learning as they measure a person's knowledge or performance in a given area. The researcher administered a pre-test to both the experimental and control groups before treatment to establish a baseline, and a post-test after treatment to measure any changes in student ability. Both tests required students to write a procedure text paying attention to fluency, grammar, vocabulary, content, and spelling.

6 Data Collection
In this research, the researcher uses test to collect data. Test is an important part of every teaching
and learning experience. Brown (2004: 3) states that a test is a method of measuring a person‟s
ability, knowledge, or performance in a given domain. According to Longman English dictionary
(2002: 546), test is any procedure for measuring ability, knowledge, or performance.
In conducting to this study, the researcher used test as the first method of collecting the data. The test
was used to collect the students‟ writing that must be analyzed to identify students‟ achievement on
writing procedure. It has aim to find out the students competence in writing, especially in procedure
text. The researcher uses pre-test and post-test.
1. Pre-test

The test, which was conducted before the treatments, called pre-test. It was used to measure to
beginning condition of every group, both an experimental and control group.
2. Post-test

The test, which was done after all treatments, called the post-test. It was used to measure students‟
ability after they were given treatments.
The researcher gave an assignment to write a procedure text. Students had to pay attention to the
five aspects of writing which would be used in the assessment. These five aspects were as follow;
fluency, grammar, vocabulary, content, and spelling.
