The lesson plan aims to teach students about love and forgiveness through a discussion on ways people show love and the importance of forgiveness. Students will then create a decorative hand writing ways they can show love and how they have shown forgiveness. The lesson incorporates different learning activities, caters to student diversity, and assesses learning through observation and a checklist to evaluate if students met the objectives of identifying ways to show love, the importance of forgiveness, and ways they have shown forgiveness.

Lesson Steps (Lesson content, structure, strategies & Key Questions):

Discuss with the students that love also requires forgiveness of those
who have hurt or offended us, or who have treated us badly. People can
show forgiveness in many different ways. The teacher will discuss a few
of these with the students e.g. parents continuing to care for their
children been disobedient or been unkind to their brother or sister. Other
ways of showing forgiveness include:

. speaking to brothers and sisters again after a row

. helping parents after being disobedient to them

. hugging parents or siblings to show they are sorry

. accepting another’s apology for a broken toy or possession

. sharing with others who may have hurt them

Discuss reconciliation and the importance of forgiveness from others and Writing tools

Explain that students will trace their hand onto a piece of coloured paper,

show love to those around them and one way that they have shown
forgiveness to someone recently. These hands will then be joined
together in the shape of a heart and displayed in the classroom.
