Utilities can pass through Padma bridge like gas,


Electricity, optical fiber for telecommunication

Develop railway connection

Previously, we needed more then 1 hour to


cross the river. After completion of this Padma
Bridge, we can cross it within 6 minutes.

CONSTRUCTION OF BRIDGE
 The bed of Padma is under 40 m from the water
surface. Approximately 130 feet. The characteristics
of bed of this river is soft clay or sandy clay type. The
pile provided under this river is 128m long.

 These piles are cylindrical round shape.


Diameter is 3 m about 10 feet and manufactured by
mild steel .Thickness is 70 mm, about 3 inch.

 The life time of Padma Bridge is 100 years.


Each columns stands on 6 piles. Pile load capacity is
8 thousand ton.

SUMMARY

 It is a multipurpose road and rail bridge over


the Padma River.
 It is the 122nd largest bridge in the world.
 The construction journey was started by China
Railway Major Bridge Engineering Company Limited
on 7 December 2014.
 The whole construction of the Bridge was
completed on 22 June 2022.
The bridge has been opened by Honorable Prime
Minister, Sheikh Hasina on 25 June 2022.
