Role Overview: As a Fire Equipment Technician, your primary responsibility will be to inspect, repair, and maintain fire safety equipment and systems in compliance with relevant fire codes. You will work under various conditions such as restricted movement, air contamination, and lifting or carrying heavy objects. This position serves as an entry-level classification reporting to the Fire Equipment Technician Lead. Key Responsibilities: - Inspect, repair, and test fire extinguishers utilizing hand tools, hydrostatic test equipment, and monitoring devices. - Disassemble extinguishers to assess mechanical components, extinguishing agents, and expelling means; and replace worn or damaged parts. - Clean extinguishers and refill them with approved materials. - Inspect, test, and repair systems like smoke detectors, sprinklers, dry stand pipe systems, and pull systems. - Provide support in fire safety inspections. Qualification Required: - Three years of experience in testing, repair, inspection, and maintenance of fire safety equipment; OR - Associate's degree in Fire Science AND one year of experience in inspection, repair, and maintenance of fire safety equipment and systems; OR - Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education that demonstrates comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities.
