Do all your edits at once

Linking tournaments

Just a heads up, for consistency's sake, there is no reason to have a linked tournament redirect to the specific singles event. In general, we simply just link the event, eg {{Trn|Super Smash Con: Fall Fest}} instead of [[Tournament:Super_Smash_Con:_Fall_Fest#Super_Smash_Bros._Melee_singles|Super Smash Con: Fall Fest]]. That way, we can also automatically set the event bolded/bolded and italicized if the event is a major (eg {{Trn|Supernova 2025|g=SSBM}} automatically produces Supernova 2025). A few things

Hi there, I see that other people have already noted to you the importance of using Show Preview and talked to you about linking to tournaments, so I'm just here to give you a reminder of the former, and also note that using "g=SSB[X]" for linking to tournaments in the main page is not preferred, as the extra wikicode makes the text bold, which does not look that great outside of results tables.

Additionally:

• uncapitalizing proper nouns (such as Golden Age) is not ideal.
• "major" is not an article.
• regions don't need to be linked to when either the subregion is already linked to, or if the region itself is a disambiguation.

I don't know if the average reader outside the USA is going to know both Minnesota and Kansas are grouped in with the Midwest, or that New Hampshire and Massachusetts are grouped in with New England. The write up on the major page is also very informative/explanatory. There is also sometimes new information dug up after sending an edited update, such as vods that are very hidden, or rankings under old aliases, or unseen original typos/missing words. I'll try to adjust accordingly going forward

That player was only ranked in Florida, it says nothing of if they still reside there or if they prefer a country designation only. There's also plenty of similar country designations in other players pages such as Germany and Japan.

There is only a finite amount of 'bringing up-to-speed' the Melee cast and historically significant players that I want to do (for the sake of future proofing and accuracy) and I am trying to manage my time (I might be 90-95% of the way there). And once it's complete, ideally I won't need to allocate as much time to it, if at all. Characters

Just a quick thing since I noticed this is somewhat of a pattern in your edits. Not all of a player's ranked characters should have its respective categories included on the player's page. Rankings tend to add random characters for no reason (e.g. PGR v3, the recent UltRanks having characters that the players used at least one in competitive play), and as such they are not always the most reliable in determining what categories a player receives. The same goes for characters in the infobox: they should be included if they have been used in notable capacities and for extended periods of time (usually around a month or so); even then, there are times characters are only used for counterpicks (e.g. Leo's R.O.B. and Roy) and as such aren't actual characters a player uses; in those cases, character categories should be included on a case-by-case basis. There are players far, far less deserving of the Melee characters that they have listed. A global top 100 appearance as a secondary should be enough to, at the very least, qualify as 'other' characters that they have. If anything, it should be a yard stick for such a category. The actual SSBMRank developers also don't just throw characters in for no good reason, as I understand it, it takes a notable upset making way for a tournament result that allowed for their rank # for that year in the first place, in order for the character to be listed. 135.23.41.56 05:15, February 14, 2026 (UTC)

The thing is, we have had some cases of a "dubious" character being added. One was Lord HDL's Link back in 2014; we know he's actually used Link in previous events, but from what we've dug up, there didn't seem to be any notable sets where he actually used the character that specific season. There is also Mang0's Doc which he basically used to sandbag/"give up" at a tournament for a while, yet it was still included for his 2023 rankings.

I do believe the modern SSBMRank tends to be a lot more accurate, but I would say secondaries shouldn't still be an automatic add. CookiesCreme 05:29, February 14, 2026 (UTC)

I was mainly thinking of Aklo's Link for MPGR Summer 2022; this is mentioned in the trivia, with Lord HDL also mentioned (granted, a bit wordy, but it was something the wiki at least looked into). Tourney Smash

It's just what I have the most to contribute to based on my own research. If I knew more about other Smash series characters or tourneys, or the game lore and character lore in the series, I'd have more to contribute to that. I explain it somewhat here. Show preview

Hello again, just putting out another reminder to please use the "show preview" button when making edits to a page. If I overlook a typo somewhere, I will just indicate in the summary (if or when I send a follow-up edit) that it's purely a typo revision to make it clearer. That's really all I'm doing when I send follow-up edits typically, unless it's a matter of new data or information coming to my attention. Sometimes they're not even mine. I don't see the sense in just leaving typos there when I see them after having sent an edit, just because it's another edit, especially if I didn't make it myself. If there's a more important point to be made in a wording change then I'm making that instead (such as if information is flat out false). And I've already answered that question. The point behind "show preview" is to make sure that you're not missing anything else that you might want to include in the edit you're putting up, to prevent you from making a bunch of small edits back to back, and instead being able to send it all in one go. I've already explained here, there is also sometimes new information dug up after sending an edited update, such as: vods that are very hidden, rankings under old aliases, unseen original typos/missing words, or just further research into the specifics of advanced techniques done later on (especially if something turns out to have been false in its wording). I've made the adjustment of including when it's merely a typo/word change fix, and I'll do what I can to not send rapid, repeat edits, obviously - it also makes no sense to not be able to mark guests edits as minor, if you can do that with members edits, really.
