AFD 2026 idea?[edit]

Since you loved Astro Bot, I was thinking that for AFD '26, you could make a fake Smash moveset for its protagonist, Captain Astro. Remember when you and BaconMastre made that whole joke about Goku coming to Smash 4 as DLC? I obviously hadn't heard of NIWA really in 2018, but I read it via your userspace. I'm obviously not participating in AFD this year (Dang it! I should've registered my account around Christmastime 2025), because I'm not established, but maybe AFD '27. Like AFD '18, it could go into your userspace probably as "User:Aidanzapunk/Astro Bot pages" or something like that once AFD '26 is over. I've noted that you've made fake Smash movesets for several characters, including Sora. Maybe, you could return to being the "moveset person" one more time. Also, you could go whatever direction you want for an Astro moveset, but I think that many of Astro's Awesome Abilities would be referenced in his moveset. I think he'd be absolutely broken and would transform the meta completely, kinda like with Meta Knight in Brawl. Everyone would play him, and the meta would be "No items, Astro only, Final Destination". However, whether or not you'd make him as broken as Meta Knight was in Brawl or not is up to you. Also, does SW:AFD say anything about autoconfirmed users giving inspiration to an established user for an April Fools joke? It says that you have to be established to participate, but does it forbid an autoconfirmed user from giving an established user inspiration for a joke? If so, don't do this joke this year, and do something else, for fear that I might get in trouble for "participating". If not, feel free to do the joke. I just thought that it'd be funny if someone made a moveset for Captain Astro, who, in my opinion, has a very slim chance of getting into Smash due to the Astro Bot IP being owned by Sony, which is arguably Nintendo's biggest rival in the console market. I'm sorry if this inflated the size of your user talk page, but I just wanted to tell you this. I know it's a little early for this, but I just wanted to give you time to consider what you're gonna do for AFD this year, that is, if you even do something this year. Ok. Sorry for not responding sooner, I was just working on adding images of spirits into the Primary and Support categories. Fun fact, I have more edits in the File namespace than I do any other namespace (1st place is File, 2nd place is User, and 3rd place is the mainspace), and the number of edits in each namespace are very close to each other. If you do decide to do the joke for AFD '26, I'll probably know by at least one of the following:

I see an image of Captain Astro and/or origin images for his special moves being uploaded via Recent Changes
I see Astro Bot-themed pages being created for AFD in Recent Changes
I see something else that indicates that the joke has been done

This one isn’t part of my userspace. Its name is Fuel. It’s a redirect to the page about the EarthBound universe's page. It's a pointless redirect. Okay, we get it, one of Ness's alts is based on Fuel, but Fuel doesn’t have a sticker or trophy or spirit or anything in Smash other than that alt. Yeah, the redirect needs to go bye-bye. Time until AFD[edit]

You have about a week and a half until April Fools’ Day. Just saying. So, you have some time to think about what you're gonna do for AFD 2026. I won't be doing anything because I'm only an autoconfirmed user. I'll continue my normal wiki actions, categorizing images of spirits into Primary and Support, and making the occasional mainspace edit, in addition to making the occasional userspace edit, usually just restructuring of my main user page and adding on to my sub-pages. If I do anything for AFD 2027 (the April Fools' day of the next year), it'll probably be a fake Smash moveset for Wikipedia or something, alongside with the Wikipedia universe being added, using the unofficial symbol for Wikipedia that we use for interwiki use. For the Wikipedia fighter itself, it'd probably be the Wikipedia logo, and the joke is, all of the names of the attacks would link to the corresponding page on Wikipedia, excluding special move names, which would instead have their own pages, but the interwiki link at the bottom of the infobox would be an interwiki link to the corresponding Wikipedia page. I don't know what its Final Smash would be, probably something pertaining to how unreliable people think it is, or referencing its strict citation policy. But I have a whole year to think about that. I'll for sure be established a year from now, because I have WAAAAY more than the minimum amount of edits to become established, the majority of them being in the File namespace, and one year is definitely more than 90 days. 1 year is like, 90 days four times over! I did think about it, and I decided against it.

In truth, the only reason I said that I would think about it is because I, in fact, have already made a take on Astro in Smash that's off of this wiki (I only put what I consider to be my best ideas onto this wiki, mostly because if I put every single idea on here, that would make for a large page with a lot of images, and, well, it wouldn't look great for a high-ranking admin to be putting so much time and effort into such a side project)—that said, what I have isn't in the exact formatting traditional to SmashWiki, and the amount of effort needed to make such a change was not something I was entirely fond of putting in.

But, since I don't feel like being a jerk and completely blowing you off, I'll tell you that my moveset used the mouse from Downsize Surprise as his neutral special, the suit of armor from Hieroglitch Pyramid as his side special, the chicken from Trapped In Time as his up special, the elephant from Trunk of Funk as his down special, and the PlaySquadron (based on the final level) as his Final Smash, and that my pick for a stage would be Luna Sola. Wow, that's good. I have a good moveset for him too (without any prior experience with the franchise, by the way). For his neutral special, I think I did either his spin attack (functioning similar to Pyra's Flame Nova but you can hold the charge) or the shuriken gadget from Astro Bot Rescue Mission, functioning similarly to the Mii Swordfighter's Shuriken of Light. For his side special, I did Muteki, which functions as a stall-then-fall in midair but rolls around when grounded. For his up special, I did the Beam Glide, which functions a lot like R.O.B.'s Robo Burner, but he can damage opponents below him with the lasers. For his down special, I did the Time-Stopper, which functions as a counterattack that slows down time for anyone that hits him when it's active (it also does damage, too!) For his Final Smash, I also did PlaySquadron Go, functioning as a cinematic Final Smash, that's kinda like Team Star Fox and Team Star Wolf.

Some normals that I'd like to point out as well:

Grab is the Twin-Frog Gloves, which functions as a tether recovery. Forward throw is Handy-D, where Handy-D heaves the opponent forward. Back throw is just this in reverse. Up throw is the chicken, where Astro jumps into the air with the opponent, then crashes back down. Down throw is also Muteki, where Astro crushes the opponent in steel ball form. Forward and back aerials are both Handy-D, the former of which functioning like Mario's fair. Dash attack is Barkster the Bulldog Booster, where Astro charges forward and damages anyone he runs into.

In addition, Astro has four midair jumps (thanks to the Octo-Balloon). His home stage is the PS5, taking place inside of the console like in Astro's Playroom. That's all, I didn't know that you'd made a moveset for him. That's amazing! I'd assume you did just special moves, because you only gave me his special moves. Also, one last thing before you can return to your bureaucrat duties, what website did you use to make his moveset, and can I have the link to where his moveset is? Interesting ideas. I personally relegated the spin attack to his jab and made the beam glide a unique "hold jump" attack (effectively mimicking the controls of the game itself), and I try to avoid giving my movesets counterattacks, seeing as how there's an overabundance of them already. I think we had the same idea for side special, though.

I don't solely come up with special moves for my movesets (you'll notice this is true of those on my concepts page), I just didn't feel like revealing everything, because otherwise we'd be here all day. I mentioned that I had the moveset done already, because I did, months before you even came to me with the question—if I hadn't, I honestly wouldn't have said "I'll think about it", because less than a month's worth of time to make a moveset and other stuff for an entire April Fools Day joke wouldn't have been enough time.

Regrettably, however, I can't share the full thing with you, as it's on a private site. If I ever decide to make more of my stuff public on something that isn't SmashWiki, however, I'll put something up on my main userpage promoting it. Aidan the Gamer 02:39, March 30, 2026 (UTC)

(Reset indent) Yes, I do notice you have your fake fighters' full movesets on your page. However, I do want to say this; I had no prior experience with Astro Bot when I made this moveset. If you're wondering about what I did for his jab, I'll tell you; he punches twice, and then it becomes a choosable jab where he either punches rapidly or punches a third time. Did you notice how I made his up throw similar to Kirby's? I know that you avoid counterattacks because we already have like 20 of them, but I'm like "one more counterattack never hurt anyone." Also, one of my neutral special concepts wasn’t just the shuriken, it also had the water gun and the tightrope, the former of which acting similarly to F.L.U.D.D., and the latter of which acting like Chain. I also originally had his down special change the gadget he’s using, but I changed it to Time-Stopper and retained the neutral special, while having it on a rotation like Magic does. I actually couldn’t decide between the gadgets and the spin attack, so I’m going to go the Street Fighter route where when you do his jab, holding the attack button instead of tapping it does the spin attack instead of doing his punch combo. It looks like {{LOCALDAY2}} returns a 0-padded number, i.e. today would appear as "04" instead of "4". Something like "April 1" would not equal "April 01". Two solutions, either change the switch to include the leading zero for single digit dates, or swap {{LOCALDAY2}} with {{LOCALDAY}} which doesn't have a leading zero. --CanvasK (talk) 19:54, April 4, 2026 (UTC)

Rework to my take on Astro's moveset[edit]

I decided to make Muteki his down aerial and down throw instead of side special and down throw. Muteki, as his dair, is still a stall-then-fall. Barkster the Bulldog Booster has been changed from his dash attack to his side special, and his altered dash attack is a punch out of his run. Astro's main attack when on the ground (and without any of his abilities equipped) is his punch (and his spin attack), so I decided to emphasize this by giving him a very punch-based moveset; basically a better Little Mac, but not exactly a carbon copy of Little Mac. I'd make sure he has enough unique moves that he wouldn't even be considered a pseudo-clone of him, like Jigglypuff having so many unique moves that it's not even considered a pseudo-clone of Kirby from Melee onward.

Now, whenever I add {{d}} to one of my user pages, there's a recurring theme where the reason for the deletion of the page is "get this (user page, draft, redirect) outta here pronto". The pages I need deleted are all redirects, and they can be found [[User:Mario Maniac/Fake Smash Characters|here]], [[User:Mario Maniac/Fake Smash Characters/Universes|here]], [[User:Mario Maniac/Fake Smash Characters/Stages|here]], [[User:Mario Maniac/Fake Smash Characters/Specials|here]], and [[User:Mario Maniac/Franchise Familiarity|here]]. I broke each redirect by putting the speedy delete tag in front of the redirect so that you don't accidentally delete the pages they redirect to by mistake.

List of rumors rumor guidelines[edit]

This might not be the best place to bring it up, but could you please move the rumor guidelines to an {{EditNotice}}? If they were moved to an EditNotice, it would shave off some bytes, and it gets very repetitive having the rumor guidelines pasted at the start of each section, in addition to better visibility, having the rumor guidelines float above the editor instead of being inside the page itself. Hi[edit]

Been about one year. It's difficult for me to integrate in traditional independent wiki settings, but ~~I've been trying to manage that on Zelda Wiki (mainly for relations)~~ oh, never mind, I was banned there today. I'll try to not be disruptive here. We don't need to go over how I've dug a hole really deep for myself, and even though it may not seem like it at times, I'm still trying my best. Just lemme know if I make any missteps on SmashWiki.

Since you're one of the people in charge, I was wondering if you're willing to take a look at Forum:More articles. I'm basically asking if things like interactable objects like Note Blocks can have their own articles, because they technically do count as objects within Super Smash Bros., just from a different franchise/universe. And this would free up a bit of details from, let's say, the Origin section of 3D Land, where it describes some of the elements' design, not the general layout that takes from various courses from Super Mario 3D Land. I'm not asking about going full-sprint with trophy-only articles like Bulbasaur (though I wouldn't mind that personally, as SSB is a celebration of gaming at its core).

Also, SW:NOT says this wiki isn't an IM service. Noted. I messed up almost everywhere else, and as stated on my user page, I really don't want to mess up here as well. I'm still working on the Smashpedia end (even though progress has been slow) so that the two wikis can have nuanced identities and to get SmashWiki plagiarism off of there. Are you ok if I put it on my userpage (or maybe a subpage later on)? You never know if a different project in the future could benefit from it.

Actually, are you okay with my subpages? They're me drafting ideas as well as adding stuff that I know won't make it on mainspace (e.g. masterpiece appearances), but still could provide valuable information nonetheless -- and I def won't upload excessive images that bloat the server backend.

I get that things can be removed from the mainspace, but this is the only independent wiki where I can contribute my knowledge to, even if it's just on my subpages; they do share a common SSB theme (i.e. I'm not going to make subpages on totally unrelated things like soap operas or sports cars). I put my contributions under CC0 (public domain) so that they're easy to transfer if something doesn't work out (namely subpages or sections I've authored entirely myself).

I've been applying important nuance to some of the origin sections (see Kritter, Thwomp, and even Mario, which I made subheadings for) providing context on stuff in Super Smash Bros. (like an overview of Kritter colors because SSB3DS has green and blue in Smash Run).

What I wrote for Hollow Bastion is in the page's edit history, so it's easily able to be referenced should I or someone else need to do so, and I don't think it needs anything more than that.

You also don't have to ask me for approval on your userpages. It's your userspace, even if it does still exist on a publicly accessible and publicly editable wiki, so as long as you're not doing anything stupid or excessively editing your userpages, then you're fine.

I think something like subheadings may require consensus before being implemented across the wiki. That's not to say I don't like them, they're just a big enough shift in the formatting of pages to where I think it should be an agreed upon change by multiple users rather than something that one person starts putting out on a whim, so I'm going to revert the change you made to Mario's page, but you're more than welcome to make your case on a talk page or forum post. Without detailing specifics, I'm used to how past occurrences on Discord got me banned from elsewhere, despite it not having any bearing on what I do on the wiki platform itself (i.e. it's more of a political statement and virtue signaling). So there's been perhaps a few cases of some users here in the past. I'll explain below.

Some time ago I got furious at a user in the past (before they joined here recently, around same time as me). I left a message on the user talk page welcoming them to this wiki (around the same time I had) and issuing a major apology that I hadn't done directly until now (you've probably seen it in the form of a welcome message).

As for Toomai, there were creative disagreements in the late 2010s/early 2020s regarding Jiggywikki since I was an early SMW fundamentalist. Now he has my full blessing to change Jiggywikki however he sees fit, because I've matured and learned more about where there's a time and place for how to do things. Again, my past conflicts with him are something I'm sure both of us want to put behind.

Unrelated, but earlier this month I got mad at some other user who isn't part of this community on ZW (where the user isn't a member either). It landed me a permaban. Coincidentally, as I was working on differentiating Smashpedia from here, that led me to decide to help both SSB wikis in different ways. The ZW event has no connection to SmashWiki (and I wasn't even allowed to edit ZW in any case since I'm staff of the Fandom ZW; only to manage relations). I still get along with one of the ZW staffers.

Ultimately, I'm a gamer (like you) who wants to make amazing collaborative gaming databases with other gamers; that's my core value, not past conflicts. Conker the Squirrel (talk) 18:55, August 24, 2026 (UTC)

Limits[edit]

The unclear limits to user page editing and personal files can be confusing, but I assume it connects to assume good faith policy? I definitely won't be uploading tons of unrelated nonsense on my user subpages.

On the other hand, the unclear limits could potentially allow me to upload certain images for my "Masterpieces coverage" that is on my userpage only (e.g. coin sprite in SMB and SMW), and later evaluation can always determine if certain pieces of media connect enough to the lineage of Smash for something like Origin section (tho in some cases, probably won't).

Since there's no clean "Nintendo Crossover Wiki" and already known interest in crossovers, I actually desire making user subpages for those as well (will try to not be redundant with how many, ofc); the framing of "these are some other crossovers the subject has appeared in" (e.g. NES Remix, even WarioWare if applicable). Now that's stuff I definitely won't mix in on mainspace, for obvious reasons.

Bottom line is that I see my user subpages as sub-encyclopedias, particularly to address certain perspectives on SSB. Conker the Squirrel (talk) 00:38, August 25, 2026 (UTC)

This is just my personal speculation, seeing as I wasn't the one to put any of the rules in place on this wiki, but I imagine the lack of a limit is more so that it doesn't feel like the admins aren't keeping a watchful eye over the users—and, to be frank, with how many users there are on this site, it'd be damn near impossible to do that anyway—because our job is to moderate discussions and behavior, rather than to dictate. On the talk page, I voiced why I opposed it (particularly because I feel "minor role" in Smash doesn't take away from how the origin section can still explain what the developers pulled from when adding it in a few diff Mario stages). But on my user page, I showed where it's relocated, to track the provenance of it and because my userpage states that my original writing here is waived by me under a Creative Commons Zero (public domain) license so that it's easy for me to plug in elsewhere in case it isn't usable here anymore. Okay. In recent times, as I've branched out, I've been trying to "compartmentalize" what I do and where. On Discord everything happens everywhere at once. Here, I might occasionally drop mention to what I do elsewhere, if it's connected to SmashWiki or the history leading up to me joining here--but at the same time, the mailing allow me to offset questions unrelated to SmashWiki (like I sent one yesterday). Just wondered if it's okay that I mentioned these to you, so people can vote yes or no on the ideas, or we try to reach consensus. How long is a proposal or an idea and how many until consensus is reached? I don't think I saw any that in the rules. It's not a "support my proposal" solicitation (which I would absolutely not do), but it's rather since I struggle with reach because I'm not on Discord (hence why you recommended it before).

Smash having Square Enix representation does not automatically mean we should affiliate with a Square Enix wiki association. Smash, first and foremost, is a series published by Nintendo and developed exclusively for Nintendo's collection of consoles—there just happens to be a licensing deal with Square Enix in some games for usage of some of the characters owned by them. I mentioned Mario to be facetious. Neither us nor SMW should join the SEIWA because the amount of affiliation with Square Enix in both franchises is extremely small and, again, basically amounts to a licensing deal. Compare that to Kingdom Hearts, The World Ends With You, Final Fantasy, and Chrono Trigger—all of which are developed by Square Enix, and have wikis in the SEIWA—and the reasoning becomes crystal clear why the Dragon Quest Wiki should opt to join and we shouldn't. There's a sort of satisfaction when people help improve one's own edits to an article, isn't there? I'll go on record for saying that I love it when people do that or expand upon what I added, making me feel like I'm part of something unique. The only time I don't like it is when tons of info is removed or if I get reverted outright, but I guess from your Hollow Bastion experience, that prob goes without saying. Edge-walked[edit]

I'm aware I may have walked along the edge of some wiki policies (including this message), but I cannot be light about this. It really irritates me that the user's only defenses are extrapolating wiki policies to stifle this wiki's coverage, padded by filler text that ignores key points. I'm unable to add the content to other wikis, so how am I going to describe my research elsewhere?

I'm pretty sure an "all-purpose Nintendo wiki" refers to not adding random sections and articles of what things do not in a way that does not connect to Smash Bros.--the logical extent of SSB is needing to explain background concepts to readers.

If this keeps up, I'm going to voluntarily leave this wiki. I actually worked hard on making it all connect to SSB, including background context, and I don't want to have all my hours of hard work thrown in the gutter because people hold on to "other wikis" argument for dear life like it's a mandate, ignoring the inconvenience of what severely truncating an origin section would do. Refer back to what I had originally written for Hollow Bastion's origin section for a second, and the discussion that followed. The crux of the matter was that it was overly long, went into far more detail than was absolutely necessary, and made the page difficult to read for the average viewer. My argument was that the context was necessary because of how complex Kingdom Hearts as a series is and how important all the minute details are—a mindset that people going into the series don't understand at first because they think the non-numbered titles aren't important (they are, KH4 is gearing up to be intrinsically tied to a mobile game that you can no longer play and a separate mobile game that didn't even release)—but my problem was that I was the only one who had written that section, and I did not feel confident in my ability to consolidate information (in a "okay but now I have to explain what this is" sort of way). I ultimately bit the bullet and removed nearly all that I'd written about the plot details, and while someone else later added back some of the detailing, I chose not to go further to avoid a repeat of the situation. I was never oblivious to the fact that what I had written was overly long, but I was not doing it for the sake of increasing our scope of coverage, I just believed it to be necessary to provide at least some plot-relevant information when discussing the origin of the location.

The Mario series, by comparison, is far less complex than Kingdom Hearts, and does not have room for argument about how much information to cover with any given origin section for material from its series. The origin section for Delfino Plaza as it was prior to you having, to be frank, overinflated it with information was perfectly reasonable. Reflecting my opinion of Hollow Bastion's origin section, I fully believe there is an argument to be made for providing context as to why Mario ended up on Delfino Island in the first place, but what you have done in that section is make it overly long, go into far more detail than was absolutely necessary, and make the page difficult to read for the average viewer. There is absolutely zero reason to go into detailing the architectural structures of Delfino Plaza, describe the specifics of the Secret Courses that are not once alluded to in Smash itself, and give a terminology list at the bottom of the section.

Allow me to make this crystal clear for you: we are a Super Smash Bros. wiki first and foremost, and it is our job to cover information within the scope of that series. People don't come to a Smash-centric wiki to learn about every little detail of Super Mario Sunshine, because the logical course of action is to go to a Mario-centric wiki to do that; people come to a Smash-centric wiki to learn about how characters, locations, and other such things from that game appear in the Smash series itself.
