Little pro-tip: for unnecessary things like file redirects, you can use Template:D instead of Template:Delete and it'll be deleted by an admin ASAP. The deletion template is for pages that require a discussion about whether or not they should be deleted. TheNuttyOne 22:22, 31 July 2018 (EDT)

Responding to this

Because you tried to replace an infobox image with a high-res one. This is a meaningless pursuit because the image will never be displayed at the higher res and will only serve to take up space. Black Vulpine of the Furry Nation. Furries make the internets go! :3 10:45, 5 August 2018 (EDT)

Hey, please don't upload images that are smaller/lower-quality just so they match native resolution for the NES or SNES or whatever. For example, this one. If you want to upload cleaner/pixel-perfect images with the correct aspect ratio and such, I'm all for that. But uploading a small image just to match native res will result in it getting messily upscaled for display on most article pages. The best way to handle this is to do a simple 2x or 3x upscale from native res yourself and upload that. That way, the full-size image is pixel-perfect, and it will get downscaled for display in articles which looks much better. Here's an example. SuperFalconBros (talk) 17:14, 30 September 2018 (EDT)

I was wondering why you're converting the image file type on numerous images? Does it really matter what file type the image is? Probably because it is not seen as a necessity or concern that this Wiki has. None of the rules specify a required file type, and as SerpentKing had mentioned, a lot of work the admins have to do to delete the files that have been replaced. About a week ago, there were only about 7 images/pages that were of Speedy Deletion, now there is almost 200. That is about 200 items that the admins have to delete, manually. If you are admin about replacing the png files into jpg files, I'd suggest asking on SerpentKing's talk page as SerpentKing was the one who originally told you it was unnecessary. Most concerns, that I've seen here, care about the quality and relevance that is shown in the image itself. The admins have stated before that although the SmashWiki is connected to the Mario and Zelda Wikis, the SmashWiki has its own Policies seprate from the other Wikis that SmashWiki is suppose to follow. However, if you wish to make the file conversion a priority on the Wiki, I suggest creating a proposal on the matter. I hope this helps with your efforts! Wolff (talk) 21:18, April 28, 2019 (EDT)

Image tagging

When tagging images for deletion, make sure they're not being used on a userspace article first. If they're being used in someone's userspace, don't tag it, instead replace the categories on the image with Category:User images. Disaster Flare (talk) 12:09, 29 September 2018 (EDT)

Yeah, I've moved on from those almost half a decade ago. I quietly migrated to Fandom (ironically enough) due to massive conflicts with independent wiki communities, and I continue to do stuff on Fandom to date. I've been doing a lot on Smashpedia as of late; now I forget what motivated, but very recently I've decided to give SmashWiki a second chance while still helping on Smashpedia (which I'm trying to drastically differentiate from this wiki while not getting rid of any info). I'm hoping this works out, as SmashWiki is quite literally the only NIWA wiki I'm allowed to edit at this point; thankfully, the crossover series gives me a lot of room for stuff to work with, even if I need to frame or contextualize it around SSB. I'm gonna cut to the chase here. We know exactly who you are, and what you've done in the past. Remember this? I meant what I said when you asked about prior actions potentially contributing to a ban on the wiki, but my intent was not for you to interpret that as you being in the clear; rather, it was to simply state the fact that if there was indeed something from one's past that matched that description, then staff would respond accordingly. Lo and behold, there is reason enough for me to leave this message for you.

Let me be clear: in accordance with our policy to assume good faith, we would like to give you a second chance. Thank you, I wanted to chat and not feel as if I'm on borrowed time. I know everyone here knows, and I think I mentioned I'm aware of my behavior being scrutinized here, for obvious reasons (at least then I feel like I'm part of a community). I'm just glad that I'm allowed here as long as I remain civil. I have too many questions burning on my mind:

1. What about the fact that I haven't used Discord for about half a decade?
2. My CC0 (public domain) waiver allowing for my original contributions like Mushroom Platform taken elsewhere if not allowed?
3. My "all-purpose Nintendo wiki" talk asking about scope: me citing how, while I'm a person who likes more, if Mushroom Platform means the policy should be updated for more clarity about interactable elements.
4. My user-page showing an abridged version of my messy history in last days of Discord and post-Discord.
5. Me investing thousands of edits into Fandom as a side-project (generally frowned upon by community members), that including Smashpedia?
6. What "tripwires" do I need to avoid if I don't want a permaban?
7. Is your userbox still allowed on my user page?

1. Wiki editors don't necessarily have to use the Discord server, but it's highly recommended to make communication between fellow users easier (even though any major decisions have to be passed on-wiki rather than in the server).
2. I could be mistaken, but I don't believe you need to include a CC0 waiver with your contributions.
3. I don't think SmashWiki needs to be an "all-purpose Nintendo wiki". It's our job to cover information as it pertains to the Super Smash Bros. series. If one wants to read information about something for one of the many series represented, they can go to that series's specific wiki.
4. To be frank, your recounting on your userpage leaves out a lot of information (including the incident on Disaster Flare's RfB that I linked to) and, in the case of what happened on Zelda Wiki, seems to be written as though you were the one who was wronged, so I'm not exactly sure what you're trying to accomplish with that.
5. It may be generally frowned upon to use Fandom, but no person on this wiki, staff or otherwise, is going to force someone to not use it. Barring exceptions mentioned earlier, what a wiki editor does outside of the wiki isn't really any of our concern.
6. As simple as this is to say, if you want to avoid getting a permaban, just stick to the rules. Don't go confronting people over minute things, don't go trying to make unapproved large-scale changes, just keep things chill and work your way up from there.
7. I think, as a whole, people have stopped caring about userboxes, though something that I would like to call attention to is that I, again, think that you having my intricately detailed origin section for Hollow Bastion on your userpage is a bit much.

Oh crab. I remember April 2020, vaguely. And wow, did those comments age poorly (esp part about Fandom). I can't remember much details of what caused me to flip. I definitely remember I had no brain, it was the start of the COVID pandemic, and I tried to be anti-left (since I fell for the stereotypes at the time) to the point I was tossing around hate speech rhetoric to try and offend and upset others. I was basically "drunk" (note the quotations) when I commented on an IP address and had toxic behavior, thinking conflicts with others gave me a free pass to be a jerk to random people.

The real reasons I behaved like that is because disaster flare unfriended me and was put in charge of Lylat wiki despite not doing much (the user said would do more at some point, but now the user's retired). Looking back, I forgot about the cpanel thing until now, and I think I remember frantically going through DMs saying that the user having high role would put a killswitch on the wikis I was managing at the time. Nowadays I literally want every single grifkuba wiki I made either totally redone or taken away because it was bad memories and a total miscalculation because I wasn't in it for the independent wiki movement but rather being a literal fascist about 2000s Super Mario Wiki because I wanted to avenge a time period when being messy and human on wikis was the norm.

The biggest lesson from all that was not to drag my messes around to other people's spaces, SmashWiki included, and leaving Discord permanently was the ultimate proof of that statement. Even then, there's been some slip ups; the most recent was where i've been banned from zeldawiki.wiki this very month, ironically, for bashing on triforce wiki as trash that nobody uses and wishing the worst on the person running it.

ZW, yeah I'm not on bad terms with them now (even though I was shown the door), so I really wouldn't want them to think it a jab at them (rather just messy history). The reason why a lot of details were left out is because I scrambled to put together explanations because someone on my talk page was already asking me about Conker Wiki; that, and being out of the public square for almost half a decade--I'd inevitably forget some details.
