CASEing Colleen

Hi everyone.  Today I'm CASEing a card made by my sweet friend, Colleen (One Smile Lifts a Spirit).  She posted her card several months ago, but I couldn't get it out of my head. :)

Colleen's card

Isn't it gorgeous??!!  I just love the softness of colouring on vellum.  I didn't have the colouring products that Colleen used, so I used zigs to colour onto the back of my white embossed vellum flowers.  Thanks to Aileen for giving me the tip to not use any water when working with vellum!!  Much appreciated, Aileen!

After I fussy-cut my zig'd (is that a new verb??) flowers, they curled up into little tubes.  I used temporary tape to adhere them to my craft mat and then place a weight on top.  It did flatten them a little, but I still needed to add lots of adhesive to get them to lay flat.

I stamped a sentiment first, after figuring out where in to line it up within my thin, stitched frame.  Then I popped up the frame and adhered the flowers on top.  It was fun colouring on vellum and I will do that again.  Thank you so much for the inspiration Colleen!

CASEing Linda

Hi everyone.  Today's card is a CASE of a card made by my dear friend, Linda (Life in the Craft Lane).  Linda is so talented and loves to play with all kinds of different mixed media products.  I have learned so much for her over the past three years. Thank you Linda!!

I loved the soft colours of her alcohol ink background.  Most of my AI backgrounds tend to be very bright and bold.  This time I used a different colour combination which included a few softer colours.  I love how it turned out.  I heat embossed my image in gold (same as Linda), and also stamped the sentiment so that it was across the main panel and the card base.  It turned out great and I love this design detail. The hard part was photographing it so that the word "smile" looked lined up.  It is lined up in real life, but the camera does love to play tricks. :)

I know that it's a no-no to heat emboss Yupo, but I just did quick passes over top of the stamping with my heat tool so that the yupo didn't buckle.  It takes a little bit of time, but worked well.

CASEing Bobby

Hi everyone.  Today I'm CASEing Bobby (bits and pieces).  I have long been a fan of Bobby's CAS style.  She also has a uniquely creative way of interpreting challenges. I saw THIS CARD on Bobby's blog a while ago, and have been thinking about it ever since. :)  Thought it was time for me to make one of my own. :)

I changed it up slightly.  Bobby had debossed the background iris, where I used a white die-cut.  And I used distress inks to watercolour my iris, instead of Brushos. Thanks so much Bobby for the inspiration!

I die-cut the iris from both watercolour paper and white card stock.  As I mentioned, I used distress inks to watercolour my iris and then layered it over top of the white die-cut in the background.  A simple stamped sentiment and a few sequins for sparkle and the card was done.

CASEing Marcia

Hi everyone.  Today I'm CASEing this beautiful card made by my friend, Marcia (Marcia's Stampin' Pad).  Thank you for the inspiration, Marcia!!

I just loved her design, and I happened to have the heart die-cut that she used for the background and hadn't used it yet. :)  I used a watercoloured panel (done on mixed media paper) that I smooshed with re-inkers and spray starch and then pressed cling wrap over top.  It has a very subtle design.

I added a simple white die-cut leaf sprig, white embossed sentiment and three Nuvo Jewel Drops in Rosewater.

CASEing Linda

Hi everyone.  Today I'm CASEing my friend Linda (Lin's Craft Corner).  I was just blown away with this GORGEOUS card that she made.  I have never done a whole card front with emboss resist ... I just love how it turned out.

I recently got another stamp set from AliExpress.  Here's the link.  The set of 17 stamps was only $2.75 US.  Great deal.  You just have to be patient as some of the orders take months to arrive. :)

The images were randomly stamped in Versamark, then heat embossed in white. Four colours of DOX inks were sponged over top.  I misted with water to create a little bit of texture.

The die-cut "happy" was gifted to me by my dear friend, Barb.  It was adhered just above the white embossed black banner.  The finishing touch was to add three raindrops for some shine.

Fun card to make.  Thanks so much Linda for the awesome inspiration!!

CASEing Karen

Hi everyone.  Today's card is a CASE (copy and share everything) of my dear friend, Karen's card (Snippets).  She is on the Design Team for The Flower Challenge and this month's challenge (#8) is to CASE one of the designers.  I am always inspired by Karen's beautiful cards and her unique, creative style.  Thank you Karen!

Karen's card

I kept my background all one piece, but did use blue and green, which are Karen's colours ... well, blue for sure! :)  I made this during the recent craft retreat with my friends.  It was an experiment of mixed media paper, a good coating of spray starch, and then dropping re-inkers over top.  I used Stampin' Up! re-inkers since I have LOTS.  I've been wanting to figure out some techniques using re-inkers and this worked really well.

After dropping ink into the spray starch, I placed a large piece of cling wrap over top, scrunching to add creases and folds.  I left it to dry overnight and then removed the cling wrap.

I used a beautiful silhouette die-cut flower frame, gifted to me by my good friend, Bonnie.  Thanks Bonnie!!
