Easy Spider Web Hairstyle

Easy #spiderhairstyle tutorial. So cute for #Halloween

Oh no! A spider has spun a web in her hair! ;)

Hey guys!  We love Halloween and look forward to posting Halloween hairstyles each October. This year we wanted a spiderweb hairstyle that would work for teenagers as well as little girls.  You could even wear this style to school or work without being too obnoxious.  Without the plastic spider, this hairstyle would be cute all year round!

This Halloween hairstyle is created by using a series of waterfall twist braids.  We love that it only takes a few minutes to spin these braids into a spider web hairstyle.  And the best part... only one elastic to take out when you are done!

Supplies needed to recreate this spider hairstyle:
  • 1 medium size hair elastic
  • Plastic spider (optional.)  We have found that spider rings work great!
  • Temporary clip to hold the braids while you are working.
  • Hair product to help control flyaways.

New Super Easy Way To Make Space Buns - No Bobby Pins!

Super easy way to make space buns. No bobby pins!

Today we are sharing a fun and easy new tutorial for making space buns.  We love that this method requires no bobby pins!

This hairstyle is great for all ages and could be used for many occasions. We love that these double buns are popular and stylish for teens right now. So fun! And if you aren't super excited about the pigtail look, you could still use this method to create one bun in a half up style for a toned down variation.

Easy Space Buns Video Tutorial: (Click here to watch the video directly on YouTube.)

New space buns hair tutorial. No Bobby pins!

Cute space buns hairstyle using topsy tail. So Easy!

Easy space buns video tutorial. No bobby pins method.

You may have noticed in our video (above) we used a "topsy tail" to create this style.  This isn't absolutely necessary, but makes it much easier to pull the loops through the elastic.  These tools can be found on Amazon (affiliate.)

This hairstyle will work for medium length, long hair, and even fairly short hair.  If your hair is on the shorter side, we would recommend taking more sections, and only looping them one time each through the elastic.

With Halloween right around the corner, we were thinking these buns could even be used for several different Halloween costumes:  Bears, mice, Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse, dogs, (basically any animals with ears!) You could also use them for rocker chick costumes, barbie, monster high, cheerleaders, fairies, etc, etc.

As mentioned in our tutorial, you can choose to make more of a loose, messy bun type of look, or keep the buns neater for a tight, sleek, coiled bun.  It is up to you!

Tinker Bell Hair Tutorial

Tinkerbell hair tutorial

This Tinkerbell hair tutorial is inspired by the hairstyle worn on Disney's fairy Tinker Bell in the movie Peter Pan! A cute messy bun or "top knot" wrapped with ribbon and side swept bangs.  Of course, my daughter doesn't have bangs (as I'm sure many of you don't as well) so we made some "fake bangs" using her own hair!

We have always loved Disney hairstyles and Halloween hairstyles and could not wait to film this hair tutorial! We have loved watching Disney movies and think Tinker Bell would be such a fun character to dress up as for Halloween, or for your next trip to Disneyland, Disneyworld, or Disney birthday party. This hairstyle would look great with a Tinker Bell fairy costume!

Tinker bell hairstyle tutorial, how to make faux bangs

The method we used for creating the "faux fringe" or bangs could be used for every day hairstyles as well (this doesn't have to be just for Tinkerbell!)  It might be fun to change up your look and have bangs for the day.  I have seen this method used with a thick headband placed in front of the bun, which ends up making the bangs look really authentic and more natural!

Supplies we used to create this look:
  • 1 Hair tie
  •  Several bobby pins
  •  Flat Iron (affiliate)

Wonder Woman hairstyle tutorial! How to make a WW headband using braids for Halloween.

You'll love this Wonder Woman hairstyle featuring a DIY headpiece made from your own hair! A perfect Halloween hairstyle to go with your Wonder Woman costume.  And the best part? You will not need to purchase or make a wonder woman headband or crown to complete your look. Our tutorial today shows how to create a wonder woman headband using 4 cornrow braids and an inexpensive red or gold star sticker.  This warrior braid / super hero hairstyle is edgy, unique, and fierce. So fun!

As mentioned in our wonder woman hair tutorial (above) we would suggest adding large, voluminous curls to complete your wonder woman Halloween costume and hairstyle.  We have a tutorial showing how to curl hair with a curling wand that would work great. I would suggest using a large barrel for loose, bouncy curls.

Wonder woman DIY headpiece or headband tutorial.

Supplies needed to recreate this Wonder Woman inspired headpiece:
  • Several small, clear hair elastics.
  • Sectioning clips (alligator clips or claw clips) to help keep hair out of your way while braiding.
  • A gold or red star sticker.
  • Pomade, gel, hairspray, etc. to help control flyaways.
Over the years we have seen many awesome hairstyles using braids placed over the forehead on Instagram and Pinterest and had the idea to make a wonder woman headband using this concept a few months ago when we heard there would be a DC comics wonder woman movie coming out in 2017! A few inspiring hairstyle accounts we have seen these trendy "forehead braid" or braided tiara warrior princess hairstyles on recently: @ashley_cardon_hairstyles @trenzasnmba @vlechtidee @brianasbraids @ashton_hairstyles @tinkerbeanpoplettes_hairdesign

Trolls Headband Tutorial & Easy DIY Halloween Costume

Cute Trolls Headband Tutorial #halloween

Since Halloween is right around the corner, this week we are showing a fun DIY "Halloween hairstyle" and Trolls costume idea!   We are loving how easy and quick this "no sew" Trolls headband is to make.  Your finished Trolls hairstyle could be worn to school for a Halloween party, crazy hair day, a Halloween dance, a trip to the pumpkin patch, Oktoberfest, as part of a costume for trick or treating, dress up, or to watch the new Trolls movie featuring Anna Kendrick (Poppy) and Justin Timberlake.  We have seen these cute headbands all over Pinterest and Etsy and thought they were such a great idea!  We love that you could dress up as a troll without having to wear a hot, itchy, and uncomfortable wig!

Supplies Needed To Create Your Own Troll Hair:
  • Around 5 yards of tulle (cut into 6x24 inch strips.)  As mentioned in our video tutorial (above) stiffer tulle will work best and don't worry about getting your strips cut perfectly.  You can use any color you want and can even mix colors if you desire multi colored hair or even rainbow hair.
  • 1 headband
  • 1 medium size, clear elastic
  • Scissors
  • Decorative flowers, ribbons, or other accessories (optional)
  • Hot glue gun
To finish your trolls costume, you could wear an overall dress with a plain, long sleeve t-shirt and matching tights.

Cute Braided Hairstyle! The Twisted Wheel Hair Tutorial

Cute braided hairstyle! The twisted wheel hair tutorial.

We hope you'll love this fun and unique half up braided hairstyle with twists!

You may recognize the first few steps in this hairstyle tutorial if you watched our video from a few weeks ago (the braided dream catcher.) Today's tutorial is a variation (or part 2) of our "dream catcher" hairstyle.  We have taken rope braids (or twist braids) and created a double twist in the center of our lace braids before braiding them back into the hairstyle to form a twisted knot design.

Unique braided hairstyle, the twisted wheel hair tutorial.

We thought the end result looked a lot like a wheel with braided spokes!   This style could also be used around Halloween time as a fun spider web hairstyle. ;)

Unique hairstyle! The twisted wheel. Video tutorial.

This half up, half down hairstyle would be a cute hairstyle for school, for recitals, dances, church, communions, special occasions, etc.

Supplies needed to recreate this hairstyle:
  • 2 medium size hair elastics
  • Several temporary hair ties or clips to hold the twists/braids while you are working.
  • Hairspray, gel, etc.
  • This hairstyle will work best on long hair or medium length hair.

Belle Hairstyle Tutorial, Beauty And The Beast Inspired

Belle Hair Tutorial, Beauty and the Beast inspired. Video instructions.
This Belle hair tutorial is inspired by Disney's new "Beauty And The Beast."  A beautiful half up hairstyle which is worn with the gorgeous yellow ball gown in the dancing scene with the Beast.

We are so excited for the new live action Beauty and the Beast Disney movie coming out on March 17, 2017. And we could not wait to film this hair tutorial! We have loved watching Emma Watson for years and think she will make the perfect Belle. (Our favorite Disney Princess!)

Belle Hair Tutorial, Elegant Half Up Bun Hairstyle: (Click here to watch the video directly on YouTube.)

Before filming this tutorial, we tried searching the internet for a clear picture of this hairstyle from an actual movie still shot, but were unsuccessful. (We only found blurry pics from the side or front and a very quick flash of the style in the official trailer.) So, this is our perceived rendition and not an exact replica.  Based off of the animated movie and books, seeing Belle at Disneyland, etc...  we know her classic style is a half up with curls, with some type of bun in the back, possibly featuring a yellow ribbon or gold hair accessory of some sort. Of course, although our minor details may not be spot on with the new movie, this hairstyle will definitely pass for Belle!  We can't wait to see the actual authentic details when we go watch this in the theater next month!

Gorgeous Belle hair tutorial. Half up bun hairstyle from Beauty and the Beast.

Beauty and the Beasty hairstyle tutorial. Emma Watson (Disney Belle) inspired.

This hairstyle is fairly easy to make (for a Disney Princess hairstyle) and would be great to go with a Princess Belle Halloween costume, a day at Disneyland or Disney world, a Disney Princess party, watching the Beauty and the Beast movie premiere, etc.

Supplies needed to recreate this glamorous hairstyle:
  • 3 small or medium hair elastics
  • Several bobby pins
  • Finishing hair spray
  • To create the voluminous bun for this style, we used our "Hollywood Half Up" accessory made by Scunci.  When we saw this tool at Walmart, we thought it would be perfect for helping to create Belle's hairstyle and it really was simple to use.  We have an older Belle hair tutorial showing another idea for making the bun from several years ago if you want to check that out. This Bell hairstyle could also be created by following the first few steps shown in our video, and then making a regular twisted, braided, or messy bun with the half ponytail and tying a yellow ribbon around it, or adding a gold clip or barrette (instead of using a bun maker like we did.)
  • The ringlet curls cascading underneath the bun were created using our 3/4 inch curling iron, starting at the the root.
  • A topsy tail (affiliate) is optional for creating this hairstyle, but does make it easier and can be used for many other styles as well. These can be found online and in some stores that sell hair accessories.
