Instagram app expands to Samsung smart TVs, tries horizontal videos

Instagram is expanding on smart TVs, with a new distribution deal with Samsung in the US and additional features for its smart TV app. The social network launched on Google TV last year and it has been working since then to improve the experience. It's available now for Samsung smart TVs from 2020 or newer, in the US only to start. Along with its presence on Amazon Fire TV and Google TV, Instagram is available across the majority of connected TV devices in the US, parent company Meta said.

NatureTime natural world content launches on ITVX

UK broadcaster ITV has signed a content agreement with Blue Ant Media to make its NatureTime natural world programming brand available on the ITVX streaming platform. NatureTime documentaries and series will be available on ITV in summer 2026 as part of a co-branded block and FAST channel. The partners will also launch content on a new YouTube channel called ITV NatureTime.

Waiken ILW, the telecommunications holding company created by Grupo Werthein, has partnered with interactive TV firm Tappp to launch a live sports data panel on the DGO and Sky+ platforms. The feature, called "Sports Experience", has been integrated into DGO across Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Uruguay, as well as on Sky+ in Brazil.

UK broadcaster Channel 4 has announced five new premium ad inventory partnerships. This will see its VoD ad inventory become available across the global platforms of Amazon Ads, Hawk (Azerion subsidiary), FreeWheel, PubMatic and Yahoo DSP. This will significantly boost programmatic opportunities for advertisers, and follows a recently expanded partnership with Google Display & Video 360 to overlay Google Audiences on Channel 4 inventory.

Europe's GNSS platform Galileo has been updated to enhance its performance in low-powered IoT and smart city devices. Charter Communications' Spectrum business has announced that TV customers can now buy a Netflix membership in the Spectrum App Store. One Hungary halts sales of terrestrial TV services

One Hungary has ceased selling its digital terrestrial television product, One Terrestrial TV, signalling the functional end of paid over-the-air television in the country, reported HWSW. The pay-TV service struggled to gain traction. A late adoption of DVB-T2 technology, coupled with declining consumer interest, caused subscriber numbers to fall to a mere 47,000 by the end of last year.

LG Uplus to launch bundled broadcast content service on U+tv platform

LG Uplus will launch a new television content package, U+tv Broadcast Pass, on 1 July, bringing together paid video-on-demand content from four South Korean broadcasters within a single subscription offering. The service will provide access to paid VOD content from KBS, MBC, SBS and JTBC through a dedicated section on the U+tv platform. Subscribers will be able to watch dramas, entertainment programmes, news and factual content from the participating broadcasters without additional per-title charges.

Netflix has confirmed the launch of the live TF1 channel in France on its platform. France's leading broadcaster as well as its catch-up service TF1+ are available directly on Netflix for the latter's subscribers in France, marking a new distribution model for the broadcaster and streamer.

SpaceX has invested nearly EUR 100 million in Romania, turning it into a relevant regional center for the company in Europe, Agerpres reports, citing Pavel Popescu, VP of the country's telecoms regulator Ancom. The statement was made at the Digital Romania Forum.

Hyperoptic sees network traffic spikes during World Cup games

UK fibre altnet Hyperoptic said some of the highest network traffic spikes on its network so far in June has been driven by fans watching 2026 FIFA World Cup games. It recorded peal network traffic around 10 percent higher than a standard Wednesday evening (around 1.4 Tbps) during the open game of the competition. During England's first game on Wednesday 17 June, traffic peaked at around 1.6 Tbps (around 15% higher than typical early-June Wednesday evening).

FuboTV live streams games from BIG3 3-on-3 basketball league

FuboTV has signed an agreement with BIG3, worldwide 3-on-3 basketball league, to stream the 2026 season live on the Fubo Sports Network FAST channel. From 20 June, FuboTV will stream 16 live games for the 9th season of the league, with two games streamed per week. Fubo Sports Network will also become home for BIG3s library of archived games telecasts from seasons 6-8.

Spain tops Europe FAST streaming adoption - study

Spain has emerged as the leading market for free ad-supported streaming television in Europe, with 79.3 percent of viewers consuming FAST content daily or several times a week, according to a Rakuten TV survey. The report, titled "The FAST Advantage", showed Spain ahead of Germany (78.3%), France (78.0%), Italy (67.3%) and the UK (65.3%). Across all five countries surveyed, 73.7 percent of respondents reported frequent FAST usage, while 80.1 percent said the format is now either a main way to watch TV or an

Polish video time down in May - Nielsen

Video time in Poland was down in May, according to The Gauge study from Nielsen. The average time spent in front of the TV screen was 3 hours and 36 minutes, representing a 15-minute decrease compared to April and down by 14 minutes compared to May 2025 when there was a presidential election. Cable accounted for 37.7 percent of viewing, ahead of satellite (23.1 percent) and terrestrial (21.0 percent), while streaming's share of TV time dropped to 10.7 percent, down from 10.9 percent in April.

CNN All Access now available to Prime Video customers in US

Media company CNN has made its 'All Access' streaming subscription available on Amazon Prime Video in the US. This allows Amazon customers to sign up for CNN content including 24/7 worldwide live news channels, premium original content from CNN Originals, CNN live events, breaking news coverage and exclusive VoD content. The CNN All Access subscription is available for USD 6.99 per month through Prime Video, or an introductory offer of USD 41.99 for the annual subscription.

ITV sees peak of 15.4 million viewers for England World Cup match

UK broadcaster ITV registered a peak of 15.4 million viewers (TV set) for its coverage of England's first game of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Wednesday 17 June. This is the highest peak UK TV audience of 2026, beating the 9.8 million registered by BBC show 'The Traitors'; and is the highest peak audience on any channel or streamer since the 2025 UEFA Euro tournament.
