Deal of the Day - Savage Worlds Adventure Edition

While I'm not a frequent player of Savage Worlds, it's a solid, flexible system that should be in every RPG player's (and GM's) collection, IMHO. Well, today's Deal of the Day is Savage Worlds Adventure Edition. Usually $9.99 in PDF, until Christmas morning, SWADE is on sale for $3. That is NOT a typo ;)

Create your own setting, convert an existing one, or pick up one of our amazing settings like Deadlands, Rippers, or 50 Fathoms. The rules give players plenty of depth to create their characters and keep bookkeeping to a minimum for the Game Master. If you’re looking for a game that’s fast and easy to set up, run, and play, Savage Worlds is for you!

Savage Worlds handles pulp action, gritty noir, supers, hard scifi, space opera, horror, and anything you can imagine!

Savage Worlds Adventure Edition is the latest version of Savage Worlds. It does not, however, invalidate prior printings of the rules, which you can continue to enjoy.

Deal of the Day - Formoria: The Dark Age (Shadowdark Setting)

I'm a sucker for RPG settings. Those who lean dark? Even better! It means conflict is baked into the setting, the engine that drives campaigns. Formoria: The Dark Age is written for Shadowdark, but should be easy enough to convert to the OSR system of your choice, likely on the fly.  Formoria is Today's Deal of the Day and is priced at $9.50 in PDF until tomorrow morning (the usual price is $ 29).

Formoria: The Dark Age is a Platinum Best Seller on DTRPG.

Rune & Relic Press invites you to the Lands of Formoria; a campaign setting in the world of Asterra with a rich history that has been developed through decades of game play. This guide offers a detailed milieu in which to place your adventures. It has a particular flavor, detailed locations, cultures, religions, politics, npc’s, and history. Although this book was written for use with Shadowdark the RPG. Most of the content here is system agnostic  and entirely usable in other systems.

The setting of Formoria echoes 4th century dark ages Europe in flavor and theme. It lies on the northern fringes of “civilization” having been settled and colonized by civilized peoples from the Katalian Empire roughly 150 years ago. The world of Asterra was developed and written by Bryan O'Doherty over the span of two decades of actual game-play. The history of heroes and great deeds, magical items and artifacts and the current state of cultures, kingdoms and empires is the result of actual at-the-table gameplay since '99.

Deal of the Day - FlexTale Hexcrawl Toolkit (multisystem: Pathfinder, P2E, 5E, OSR, DCC)

I touched on HexCrawls recently on The Tavern's YouTube Channel. Done right, they are one of the most enjoyable aspects of campaign play IMHO. The FlexTale Hexcrawl Toolkit is a fantastic tool for the toolbox of any GM seeking to run a hexcrawl or a sandbox.

Usually, $19.99 in PDF, the 400+ pages of the FlexTale Hexcrawl Toolkit is $4.00 in PDF until 11 AM ET December 8th.

This book was designed to be the most complete, most comprehensive, most innovative authority on hexcrawl roleplaying game adventuring ever produced.

After more than 35 years of gaming, both old-school through to today's most popular systems, the Hexcrawl Toolkit takes one of the hobby's oldest and most enduring concepts, and provides a passionate and well-organized guide for running hexcrawls, either as part of your campaign, or as the focus of them.  Designed to be used by new players, veteran G/DMs, those entirely new to hexcrawls, and solo players alike, this book will be immediately useful to any gaming group, in any context, using any rules system, for campaigns of any length--even those already in progress!

The goal of the book is to guide readers through the concepts at the reader's own pace and preference.

If you've ever seen a module or other book with a hex map, and thought to yourself, how do I make one of those?  How do I make the one that's there better?  This book is for you.

What is This Thing?

The Hexcrawl Toolkit contains dozens of topics, organized into the following sections:

  • Introduction, QuickStart, & Checklists
  • Planning
  • Movement, Speed, & Visibility
  • Navigation & Long Journies
  • Points of Interest
  • Encounters & Combat
  • Survival
  • Mapping & Cartography
  • Appendix: Utility Tables, Visual Reference, & Blank Hex Grids
  • Why Do You Care?

This book was written to contain any and all of the rules a G/DM or solo adventurer could possibly want or need to run their own hexcrawl campaign, design and build their own hexcrawl map, or even author and publish their own hexcrawl worlds.

This book will help you if:

  • If you're new to TTRPGs entirely.
  • If you're new to hexcrawls and have never seen a map with hexes.
  • If you're a veteran G/DM who wants to elevate the scope and scale of their adventures.
  • If you're an experienced hexcrawler who wants to take the detail, realism, scalability, or thoroughness of their approach to the next level.
  • If you're designing your own fantasy world, and want to use a hex map to represent your vision.
  • If you have no time before the next gaming session, and the PCs are traveling across the wilderness.
  • If you want to dynamically generate an infinite diversity of adventure content on a continental scale.
  • If you're a solo player who's looking for that ever-elusive element of surprise and inspiration for massively-detailed, ever-unfolding adventures on a realm-wide scale.

The FlexTale Difference

The goal here is that if you have ten minutes, or ten weeks, to prepare for a game session, there's something in this book that will help you out enormously.

The Hexcrawl Toolkit features the FlexTale approach to gaming design: the content herein supports ANY set of PCs of ANY level, and scales accordingly.  No two adventures or quests are the same.

The majority of the book is system-agnostic, and can be used easily with any TTRPG system.  Some specific tools and elements contain rules language tailored to 5E, Pathfinder, Pathfinder Second Edition (P2E), OSR, and Dungeon Crawl Classics (DCC).

What's Included

The Hexcrawl Toolkit features:

  • Over 190 tables, each designed to take minimal time to randomly determine dynamic adventure content or select from amongst well-described and easy-to-implement options.
  • Simplified FlexAI rules to drive dynamic and interesting creature behavior in combat and in social interactions.
  • And much, much more!

Deal of the Day - Summer's End and Other One-Page Adventures (Questing Beast OSR)

Today's Deal of the Day is Summer's End and Other One-Page Adventures by Ben Minton/Questing Beast. For the next 24 hrs or so, you can grab Summer's End for $3, usually $7.50. Pretty good deal for a dozen 1-page adventures.

Summer's End is a 24-page zine containing 12 one-page adventures for Knave 2e and other OSR systems, each contained on a single spread. Six of these are dungeons to drop into your campaign, while the other six are "Six-Mile Adventure Hexes," local areas packed with action and mystery to spice up a hexcrawl.

Most of these adventures were originally released as Patreon exclusives, but have since been revised, redrawn, and redesigned to make the most use of the zine format.

Some of the adventures include:

  • Summer's End: A mountain hex featuring rival factions, a tree of magic swords, and the lair of the Summer Worm.
  • The Raiders of Wolfsea: An archipelago hex featuring weird pirate ships, fog wolves, civilized liches, and a treasure hunt.
  • The Wizards of Sparrowkeep: A village hex surrounded by four wizard towers, whose occupants are engaged in a slow, passive-aggressive wizard battle for the affections of a local witch.
  • The Alchemist's Repose: An abandoned laboratory overrun by fungal elves and programmable automatons.
  • The Lair of the Keymaster: A puzzle dungeon with a chained, starving dragon and the schematics to the Lock Absolute.
  • Drums in the Deep: A sewer dungeon featuring a hallucinogenic spider, three lost teenagers, and a cult attempting to summon the King of Nails

Deal of the Day - Castle of the Mad Archmage - The Core Levels

Castle of the Mad Archmage, or CotMa, is Joe Bloch's love letter to Greyhawk, and a suitable replacement for the infamous Castle Greyhawk. I ran an earlier version of CotMA for about a year, a decade ago—good stuff.

Until 11 AM Eastern Time or so, Castle of the Mad Archmage is the current Deal of the Day. Usually 24.95 in PDF, until the late AM on Nov 3, CotMA is on sale in PDF for 14.95.

But a few scant leagues from the walls of the bustling town of Greyheim lay the crumbling ruins known as the Castle of the Mad Archmage, Jophob Schlech, long shunned by the local townsfolk. Decades ago, a series of vast treasure hoards were discovered in the twisting mazes beneath the castle proper, along with hungry beasts and deadly traps aplenty. Legends were made in that time; the names of those early explorers will live on for centuries. Eventually, though, the dungeons lost their luster as the treasures became smaller and harder to win, the traps were dismantled, and the monsters slain; eventually only the desperate or jaded dared enter the dungeons beneath the castle.

Recently, however, reports have surfaced of renewed stockpiles of wealth in the dank passages and chambers beneath the hillock upon which the stillruined castle rests. Regions once deemed devoid of monstrous habitation have been reported to teem with renewed activity. Traps both magical and mundane have once more brought explorers to their doom. Changes both subtle and gross have been noted in the very layout of the passages and chambers, rendering old maps and knowledge dangerously unreliable if not outright useless. Something is definitely afoot, and most honest folk in the nearby city find the prospect an unnerving one indeed.

To the bold and daring, however, only one message needs to be heard. The castle and its dungeons are once more ripe for exploration, and new legends are ready to be made beneath The Castle of the Mad Archmage!

This new edition contains all 14 core levels, including the surface ruins, the wilderness immediately surrounding the castle, and several sub-levels. It also comes with VTT-friendly maps that don't show trap doors, sloping passages, secret doors, etc. (you'll still need to add your own "fog of war" according to the specific system you use). It is compatible with most old school games, specifically the first advanced edition of the world's most popular RPG.

Note: This is not the Kickstarter edition. This version does not include the various side levels, which must be purchased separately.

Deal of the Day - Ravensrook: A Grimdark Urban Fantasy Setting (OSR & 5e)

It was pointed out to me earlier today that "grimdark" is currently "hot", and here we find a self-described "grimdark setting" as the Deal of the Day at DTRPG.

Ravensrook: A Grimdark Urban Fantasy Setting is today's Deal of the Day. Usable with 5e and the OSR, Ravensrook is on sale for $5 in PDF until tomorrow morning (usual price $10).

The Lands of the Free Lords is a patchwork of petty kingdoms, bandit lords, and misfit war camps sandwiched between evil empires, do-gooder nations, and religious zealots. While regional warlords rose and fell over the ages, there was one constant within this chaotic land - the famed city of Ravensrook. The Black-Winged City of Bandits and Brigands. The only proper city within the Lands of the Free Lords.

This supplement is fully compatible with 5th edition as well as the OSR.

Includes:

  • A history of Ravensrook and its region, the Lands of the Free Lords.
  • A full overview of the city’s government; Guilded-law, the Members of the Council of Lords, and the new Governor.
  • A full breakdown of the four tiers of the city, along with the prominent businesses and Guilds to be found in each one.
  • A full city map showing the locations of all the important businesses, Guild Halls, and governmental buildings.
  • Information on 14 different factions within the city that are vying for power and control.
  • Entries on the top 16 Guilds of the city.
  • 23 entries for the most important NPCs to be found within the city along with role-playing notes.
  • A listing of all the Gods worshiped within Ravensrook along with monsters specific to the city and their statblocks.

Deal of The Day - Belowdown for Shadowdark RPG

ShadowDark is one of the hot properties today in the RPG world, OSR, and beyond. It's not surprising, then, that several third-party publishers take advantage of the ShadowDark third-party license.

Today's Deal of the Day is Belowdown for Shadowdark RPG. Usually $15.99 on PDF, Belowdown is on sale until tomorrow morning for $8.00.

It is said a hole runs straight to blackest Hell. The Belowdown, a 19-level catacomb-skein of old ruins, misbegotten terrors, dark dwarf reliquaries, shuddering magic. Sharpen your blade to find riches or death for Shadowdark RPG.

Dyson Logos released a series of 23 relatively compact maps with a theme: all these maps are connected via a central shaft. Logos calls this “Iseldec’s Drop” and made these maps available to all creators. We’ve used the first 19 maps, placing an entrance to the Utter Below at the bottom. I imagine this as the home of the Shadowdark, as much as any world-wide malaise can have one.

We’ve decided to put our spin on this concept, calling it Belowdown. You’ll find forgotten civilizations, eldritch runes, bestial mutants serving brassine masters, serpent-people waiting for the End Times, necro-wizards preparing to create an army of slimy undead, and far more within.

A massive megadungeon of 19 interconnected levels, each with B&W maps, described in terse, evocative prose with crucial features outlined.

Factions such as brass automatons, the devil-lich, snake-people awaiting the end of the world, ooze worshipping toad-men, drow exterminators, mutant servitors, daemons seeking penultimate Chaos, and more.

Written with a focus on getting into play, designed so you can place the Belowdown in almost any campaign with little fuss. Menagerie Press makes Shadowdark-friendly modular adventures that are plug-and-play with your existing worlds.

Deal of the Day - Adventure Anthology for Shadowdark

I truly enjoy ShadowDark. It's a great crossover game for those who wish to go beyond the 5e environment and dip their toes into the OSR.

Today's Deal of the Day is the Adventure Anthology for Shadowdark. Usually $19.95 in PDF, it is on sale for $7.98 in PDF until tomorrow morning.

Adventure Anthology is our Adventure Framework Collection #1 converted to Shadowdark, with some updates to formatting, editing, and art, compiled by myself and Shadowdark veteran William Murakami-Brundage of Menagerie Press (or Facebook page here). I supplied the adventures, Will did the layout and conversion work :)

22 adventures

220 pages

PDF and Full size B&W hardcover (8.5″ x 11″)

The book consists of twenty two short, sharp, independent adventures, designed for low prep, improvised play. Each adventure has a hook/rumours, core scenario, random encounters, NPC details, and B&W illustrations. Nineteen have hand drawn maps. The settings are common locations such as cities, forests, mountains, underground, etc, for easy insertion into your sandbox campaign. They're suitable for PC Levels 1-7 and generally run around six to ten hours of session time.

Originally written for Low Fantasy Gaming RPG, the adventures tend to be lower magic, with a sword & sorcery bent. There are some references to the people and places of the Midlands of Argosa, but these are easily swapped out for your favourite setting.

Deal of the Day - FlexTale Campaign Generator

Want some of the best campaign tables short of using AI - correction, probably better than AI at this time? Today's Deal of the Day is FlexTale Campaign Generator. Usually $19.99 in PDF, until tomorrow morning, Flextale Campaign Generator is on sale for $11.99

Summary

  • Run an entire campaign from one book with zero prep!
  • Use this book to generate entire fantasy tabletop roleplaying campaigns.  With no advance planning.  With any rules system.  For solo or traditional gaming tables.
  • Simply put: If you are playing, or plan to play, any sort of fantasy tabletop roleplaying game, this book will help you.

Version 2.1 August 2025

I've added a TON of new content to the book, by popular demand:

  • Another 35 NEW generator tables and tools, focusing on campaign management, worldbuilding, and dungeon generation.
  • 96 high-resolution dungeon map images for creating your own dynamic dungeons.
  • An Excel file containing EVERY one of the 226 generators in this book, and each of the 2,500+ results the book describes.

What is This Thing?

  • It's over 200 generators, each one linking to others in an accessible, easy-to-use manner.  Roll a d12, or a few d12s, and you have your content.
  • Use on its own.  Use it with other FlexTale books.  Use it with your homebrew tools.  Use it with other third-party books or lists.  Use it with officially-published content.
  • However you want to use it, the FlexTale Campaign Generator will help you.  Period.

A True Campaign Generator

  • Not just 200+ lists of things.  “100 examples of X” tools aren’t unique.
  • Some are ultra specific, meaning it’s unlikely you’d ever use the same result more than once.
  • Others are far too vague, giving time pressed DMs little to latch onto creatively.
  • The lists in this book aren’t 100 long, but the dozen results for each table are carefully curated to be engaging and easy to use balance in complexity, specificity, and context.
  • Every result should be usable in every campaign, and adaptable to every context.
  • Quality over quantity in results is the focus here.

Major Topics

  • Each of these concepts gets its own section, with a dozen or more generators.
  • Campaigns & Worldbuilding: 32 generators (new!)
  • Quests: 57 generators
  • NPCs: 23 generators
  • Overland: 36 generators
  • Encounters: 27 generators
  • Factions: 5 generators
  • Magic: 24 generators
  • Rewards: 16 generators
  • Penalties: 10 generators
  • Utility: 8 generators
  • Dungeon Generation: 3 generators (new!)
  • Designed with Solo in Mind

The FlexTale Campaign Generator has been designed at every level to fuel exciting, engaging, and surprising solo adventuring.  Arguably the biggest challenge for any solo player is how to maintain the element of surprise--how can you be shocked, inspired, or excited about twists and turns that you yourself created?

Onward!

Deal of the Day - Winter's Daughter (OSE)

If it's written for OSE, it will fit with pretty much any OSR system. In this case, Winter's Daughter comes in two flavors - OSE and Dolmenwood - and comes with two files.

Today's Deal of the Day is Winter's Daughter for OSE/Dolmenwood for $5 in PDF (usually $10). It's a low-level adventure coming in at 24 AND 32 pages - both ruleset flavors are included.

The tomb of an ancient hero, lost in the tangled depths of the woods. A ring of standing stones, warded by the sinister Drune cult. A fairy princess who watches with timeless patience from beyond the veil of the mortal. A forgotten treasure that holds the key to her heart.

Winter’s Daughter is a romantic fairy tale adventure designed for characters of Level 1–3. Presented in a quick-reference format, the adventure is easy to run with minimal prep.

Rules Editions of Winter's Daughter:

This product includes two versions of the adventure:

For the Dolmenwood RPG. 32 pages long, with additional art.

Deal of the Day - Deadball: Baseball With Dice (Second Edition)

Are you one of those, like me, who remembers Stratomatic Baseball? Well, aside from the fact that it's about baseball, Deadball: Baseball With Dice (Second Edition) is similar, but not - and it's a blast - I own it in print.

Deadball: Baseball With Dice (Second Edition) is today's Deal of the Day, on sale for $6 in PDF until tomorrow morning (normally $15).

Deadball: Baseball With Dice is a fast-paced baseball dice game that uses real statistics to bring the ballpark to your tabletop. Since it was first introduced in 2017, its elegantly simple rules have made it a hit with baseball fanatics and new fans alike, as thousands of players from around the world have used it to replay classic World Series, create dream teams, and design beautifully crafted fictional leagues. A 1-2 player game, Deadballtakes about 30 minutes to play and can star players from history, present day, or your own imagination.

Whatever you love about baseball, Deadball will bring it to life.

This book, which replaces both the original Deadball: Baseball With Dice and Deadball: 1909, contains everything you need to play the game, including:

Complete rules for the game’s Modern and Ancient eras, allowing you to recreate games played any time from 1900 to today.

Instructions for team generation using real or fictional players.

Updated rosters and player descriptions for the legendary Southern Circuit, an eight team league of misfits and eccentrics whose story is being told in 2022 and 1913.

Two new campaigns for Nine Game Pennant, a fast-paced mini-campaign that drops you right into the heart of the fight for the Southern Circuit title.

All the digital supplements you need to get going, including blank scoresheets and the invaluable quick reference guide.

Deal of the Day - Ed Greenwood Presents Elminster's Forgotten Realms (System Neutral)

Yes, WotC HAS produced system-neutral material for its settings. A bit of a surprise, I bet ;)

Normally 14.99 in PDF, Ed Greenwood Presents Elminster's Forgotten Realms is on sale for 8.99 until late morning of September 18th.

The Forgotten Realms is the most successful and widely known Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting ever created, and it owes its existence to creator Ed Greenwood.

This 160-page book describes the campaign setting as it lives and breathes in the imagination of its creator. Through the alter ego of Elminster, Archmage of Shadowdale, Ed Greenwood presents the Realms as a setting where companies of crazed adventurers are born and have rich lives, and where they get to call the shots. In this book, Ed presents a world where friendships are forged, endless intrigues unfold, and heroes wage war against the monstrous inhabitants of famous dungeons and untamed wildernesses.

Deal of the Day - Tales of Argosa (Low Fantasy Gaming)

In the time before COVID, my gaming group was playing with Low Fantasy Gaming. While not a ruleset I would have chosen at the time of play, it felt similar to an OSR ruleset, in that ruling , not rules, ruled the day. There is much I would borrow for my OSR gaming.

Today's Deal of the Day is Tales of Argosa, which is essentially Low Fantasy Gaming 2e. Normally, 24.95 in PDF, until tomorrow morning, Tales of Argosa is on sale for $9.98.

Core Features

  • Familiar d20 based system.
  • 9 Classes Artificer (or Alchemist variant), Barbarian, Bard, Cultist, Fighter, Monk, Ranger, Rogue & Magic User; only two of which involve magic.
  • 9th Level max caps PC power levels.
  • Flatter HP Curve Most PCs will have approx 10-40 hit points over their nine levels.
  • Unique Features Every 3rd level design your own PC ability in conjunction with your GM, or choose from 40+ examples.
  • Roll Under for Attribute checks, making every stat point matter. Degrees of success via Great Successes and Terrible Failures.
  • Roll High for attack & damage rolls.
  • Wisdom is split into Perception and Willpower. Perception mod applies to ranged attacks instead of Dex.
  • Simple Skills grant a +1 bonus on relevant Attribute checks, but more importantly allow a PC to access their limited Reroll Pool if they fail. The Variant Rules chapter includes a further simplified "Class, Race & Background" combo to replace the skill list, if desired.
  • Minor, Major & Rescue Exploits on top of damage, not in lieu, promote improvised stunts and moments of greatness.
  • Fast Initiative Side based initiative, but a different PC rolls each round. Initiative is a derived stat (average of Dex & Int). If the PC makes their Initiative check the party goes first, otherwise the monsters do. On a Great Success the party also acts before any Heavies or Bosses.
  • Diminishing Luck attribute replaces saving throws, ratcheting up the danger with each save.
  • Fierce Battle Martial Exploits, Nat 19s, Crits, Fumble ripostes, Morale checks, Trauma rolls, Heavies, and Bosses make for action packed battles! When reduced to zero hp, healing takes 1d3 minutes (magical or otherwise). Players don't roll to find out if their PC lives until after the combat, when an ally checks the body...
  • Unbalanced Encounters ToA is designed for unbalanced combat. Clear escape rules put the fate of the PCs in the players’ hands - do they fight another round, or run?
  • Short Rests PCs make two Willpowers checks during a Short Rest to attempt to recover hp and class abilities, encouraging them to press on rather than camp.
  • Dark & Dangerous Magic Roll to Cast and DDM tests threaten to unleash Veil monsters, madness, mutation, or worse!
  • Downtime Rules for Carousing, Pets, Black Market Trade, Masterforged Gear, Gambling, Recovery, Potion Brewing, Magical Research, Scroll Inscribing, Rumours, and more.
  • Emergent Play & Solo Support via mechanics, procedures, and massive GM Toolbox to facilitate improv, including: Lone Wolf PC rules, Range Bands (for smoother Theatre of the Mind), Reaction & Activity rolls, Major Exploits & Rescues, Morale checks, Consult the Bones Dice Oracle, Read the Signs Card Oracle, Hexploration Procedures, Dungeon Tally & Events, Travel Events, Random Encounters, XP Awards, NPC Tables, Treasure Tables, Madness Table, Disease & Parasite Table, Trap Tables, Dungeon Generator, and more!
  • Easy Compatibility with most OSR and 5e style adventures; just swap out monster stats, treasure, and spells for ToA equivalents, and you're good to go! We've been playtesting with adventures from LFG, Forbidden Lands, Dragonbane, B4 The Lost City, Hot Springs Island, The Toxic Wood, Mines of Perinthos, and very recently Moria (from The One Ring, alpha PDF). Deal of the Day - Wind Wraith - A Generative Wavecrawl Setting Toolkit

I love books that are random tables PLUS (yes, JoetheLawyer may have a stroke when I state this - sue me Joe ;)

Wind Wraith is today's Deal of the Day - usually 18.99, Wind Wraith is currently on sale for 5.70

Wind Wraith is a toolkit that you can use to generate your own fantasy post-apocalypse ocean world, complete with scattered islands, factions, ships, and ancient arcane machines. Play as the descendants of the survivors of a great flood, explorers in a fallen world, as they build and upgrade their ship and crew. Attempt to unravel the mysteries of the past and survive with limited resources. Wind Wraith was made for the old school essentials rule system but can easily be converted to many other rule systems.

Inspired by Yoon-Suin, Wind Wraith is a generative setting toolkit. This means every game master will generate their own unique flooded world with the book. This is achieved through a pipeline of random generation tables that begin with broad brush strokes and gradually zoom in to a micro scale. Also included are quick-start rules and detailed pre-generated islands so you can start playing right away.

Content Included:

  • Quick start island
  • Sea generation
  • Island generation
  • Entomologist class
  • Aquatic elf playable class
  • Tyrant generation
  • NPC and faction generation
  • Ships, crews, ship combat & exploration
  • Arcane constructs
  • Monster generation
  • Additional game master tools

Deal of the Day - Content Conversion Guide Second Edition (Pathfinder / 5E / P2E / OSR / DCC / d20 3.5 / AD&D 2e)

Some people do these conversions on the fly, based on feel. Others like to have it spelled out for them. I'm in the former category myself, but if you are in the latter, today's Deal of the Day - Content Conversion Guide Second Edition (Pathfinder / 5E / P2E / OSR / DCC / d20 3.5 / AD&D 2e) is the guide for you.

If you've ever wanted to take adventure content from one system and use it in another, this book has been designed to be of invaluable help.

With full support for 3.x and AD&D 2e, you can easily convert decades-old campaign material for use with more recent rules systems, or vice versa.

Return to the realms of Greyhawk, Mystara, Planescape, Al-Qadim, Dark Sun, Kara-Tur, Birthright, and even Hollow World, or explore them for the very first time, in the rules system of your choice!

Extend and enhance the options available for settings that have been republished, but much more sparsely than the hundreds of sourcebooks and adventures that are available over the decades for older systems. Ravenloft, Forgotten Realms, Spelljammer, and more: if you liked the material that is available for 5E, you'll gush at the opportunity to delve into hundreds of sourcebooks that have come before.

Relive, or relish, HUNDREDS of ancient sourcebooks, adventures, and options, in the modern rules system of your choosing.

Take the hundreds of first-party, and thousands of indie, adventures and sourcebooks that have been published for P1E and other older systems, and use them in 5E or another supported system of your choice.

Convert any content, from any of the supported rules systems, into any of the other rules systems.

Only with the Content Conversion Guide: Second Edition.

Deal of the Day - Knave 2e

Knave 2e is today's Deal of the Day (usually 20, marked down to $8 in PDF). Play it as is, or use it for inspiration with the RPG of your choice.

Knave 2e is an exploration-driven fantasy RPG and worldbuilding toolkit, inspired by the best elements of the Old-School DnD movement.

This edition expands on the intuitive core of the original game, featuring elegant, modular subsystems for hexcrawling, dungeon delving, potion making and downtime activities, all in a 80-page digest-sized hardcover lavishly illustrated by Peter Mullen. The book features:

  • A world-class GM's toolkit. Roll and combine results from 75 d100 tables to rapidly generate dungeons, overworld regions, cities, monsters, items, spells, NPCs and factions, or just scan the pages for inspiration. These are especially useful for people who enjoy playing RPGs solo.
  • Intuitive, unified d20 mechanics that allow new players to make characters and start playing in minutes. Ability scores, armor, and difficulty ratings are placed on a 0-10 scale, yet remain compatible with the adventures and monsters from the last 50 years of fantasy roleplaying. The rules can also effortlessly switch between player-facing and GM-facing rolls.
  • A slot-based inventory system that makes tracking what you carry both easy and mechanically meaningful. If you take enough damage, wounds can begin filling items slots, forcing you to drop gear, treasure, or weapons.
  • Classless character generation that lets PCs draw from multiple archetypes at once. Any PCs can cast spells, call down miracles and use any weapon or armor. Their effectiveness is only restricted by what abilities they choose to improve and how they fill their limited item slots.
  • A d6 Hazard Die system that condenses tracking encounters, clues, weather changes, fatigue, torch burn, and resource depletion into the roll of a single die.
  • A utility-focused magic system that empowers PCs to alter the world in creative ways with 100 level-less spells. Also, a huge spell generator for groups who want chaotic, randomized magic.
  • A relic-driven divine magic system in which PCs complete missions for deities to gain their blessings. Generate new deities including their domains and symbols.
  • A monster-hunting alchemy system where PCs can hunt down magical creatures for their special abilities and then refine them into potions.
  • Downtime activities where PCs carouse, gamble, recruit hirelings, and build bases.
  • A tactical warfare system that resolves mass battles in minutes.
  • Straightforward GM and player principles for getting started running an old-school style game.
  • Designer commentary that explains the reasoning behind the rules.
  • Easy-to-use "control panel" layout.
  • Stunning art by Peter Mullen.

Deal of the Day - Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master

I know what many of you reading this are saying - I already know how to DM! Why do I need to read a book to tell me how to do it better? I've been a DM for nearly 45 years, and I am still learning new tricks.

Today's Deal of the Day is Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master from SlyFlourish on sale for $4 (normally 7.99). I already own this, or else I'd be all over it :)

Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master is a book designed to help fantasy roleplaying Gamemasters get more out of their games by preparing less. Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master uses the experiences of thousands of GMs to help us focus on how we prepare our games, how we run our games, and how we think about our games.

Refined for five years after the release of the Lazy Dungeon Master, Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master is a complete stand-alone book that includes practical steps for focusing our preparation activities on those things that will bring the biggest impact to our game.

Backed by over 6,700 backers on Kickstarter and based on research involving hundreds of books, videos, articles, and interviews with top Gamemasters, as well as thousands of results from Gamemaster surveys, Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master helps us understand the best tips and tricks used by GMs all over the world to bring the most fun to our games.
