NECGM, a multidisciplinary academic association in computer graphics at the Faculty of Engineering, needed a refreshed identity to reflect its long-standing success connecting students with the industry.
Inspired by the architectural façade of the Faculty, the identity is anchored in a single square shape. Its scattered structural lines, viewed from different perspectives, create a dynamic, contemporary symbol in constant flux, connecting the academic group to its institutional roots.
We delivered a refined visual identity, campaign assets, and motion adaptations for NECGM ensuring consistent communication across print and digital. We launch the brand at Pólo Zero for the 1st Year Game Dev Meets which attracted over +120 participants, the highest attendance in NECGM’s history at that point, while creating a renewed sense of pride and identity among students and faculty.
NECGM had grown into a respected academic hub in computer graphics, yet its identity no longer reflected its scope or reputation.
The challenge was to restore trust and recognition among students, professionals, and institutional partners through a new identity that embodied both technical precision and creative dynamism.
The new identity was inspired by the Faculty’s architectural façade, a grid of structure and rhythm.
From a single square, we developed a flexible system of intersecting lines that shift, break, and reconnect. The result: a living symbol that mirrors NECGM’s continuous evolution and the motion inherent to computer graphics.
The rebrand culminated in the 1st anniversary Game Dev Meet, where motion design transformed the brand into an expressive experience. The project redefined NECGM’s visibility and attracted record engagement, reestablishing its role as a creative connector between students and industry.
The ‘Game Dev Meet’ campaign was launched on the NECGM social networks (2018), as well as image ads distributed on the different university grounds of the University of Porto.
