University Values Essential to Teaching

Modern, innovative, digital, practical, international - these are the aims of teaching at Technische Universität Berlin laid out in the University’s mission statement for teaching. The mission statement serves as a constitution for teaching practice and defines educational objectives and content. Developed through a year-long participatory process, in which members from all areas of staff were involved, the mission statement was unanimously approved on 7 November 2018 by the TU Berlin Academic Senate.

Shaping the quality of studies together

TU Berlin's quality management system thrives on the involvement of everyone: teaching staff, students, faculty management and external experts shape it together. Whether through course evaluations, the so-called TUBSonar surveys or quality dialogs - students have many opportunities to actively shape their studies. A system that relies on participation and transparency to continuously improve studies and teaching.

Legal framework for teaching

Our teaching operates within a clear legal framework, which is defined by various laws and regulations. These can be issued by TU Berlin itself, the state of Berlin, the federal government or even at European level. This legal framework is supplemented by a series of internal guidelines and directives. Although these do not have the character of law, they play a central role as they serve as valuable orientation aids and create a solid basis for joint work at the university.

Developing Teaching Together

Teaching is rarely a solo act - even if it often takes place alone in the lecture hall, seminar room or online. We have over 3,000 lecturers whose knowledge and experience form an impressive treasure trove. In order to promote this exchange, TU Berlin invites teaching staff, support staff and students to come together in a variety of formats. Because teaching thrives on participation: Together we can make it even better!

He/she is supported by a well-coordinated team: Student Services and Strategic Controlling, who together ensure that the diverse tasks are implemented smoothly and effectively. An exciting interplay of strategy, organization and commitment!
