NGC 1325는 에리다누스자리에 위치한 편평한 나선 은하다.약 7천 5백만 광년 떨어진 곳에 위치한 이 [2]은하는 에리다누스 은하단의 일원으로,[3] 약 200개의 은하가 모여 있다.그것은 1799년 12월 19일 윌리엄 허셜에 의해 발견되었다.

이 은하에서 1975년 12월 30일 저스투스 던랩과 Y에 의해 초신성이 발견되었다.코랄리토스 천문대의 던랩.[8]규모 14.6의 SN 1975S로 지정되었으며,[9] 동쪽 53㎝, 은하핵 북쪽 77㎝에 위치하였다.이 초신성의 색과 빛의 급속한 감소는 그것이 제2종 초신성이었음을 시사한다.[10]

이 은하에서는 2021년 9월 8일 코어붕괴 초신성 SN 2021yja가 검출되었다.[11]처음에는 타입 II로 분류되었지만, 그 대신 타입 Ic일 수도 있다.[12]
