전립선암 항원 3(PCA3, DD3)은 비코딩 RNA를 발현하는 유전자. PCA3는 인간의 전립선 조직에서만 발현되며, 전립선암에서는 이 유전자가 고도로 과압되어 있다.[3][4]제한된 표현 프로파일 때문에 PCA3 RNA는 종양 표식기로 유용하다.[5]

바이오마커로 사용

오늘날 전립선암에 가장 많이 사용되는 바이오마커는 전립선 특이 항원(PSA)의 혈청 수준 또는 파생 측정값이다.그러나 PSA는 전립선 특이적이지만 암 특이하지는 않기 때문에 불완전한 바이오마커다.예를 들어, PSA는 양성 전립선 비대증을 가진 노인들에게서 증가할 수 있다.전립선암 진단을 개선하기 위해 몇 개의 새로운 바이오마커들이 조사되고 있다.이 중 일부는 소변 샘플로 측정할 수 있으며, 향후 여러 개의 비뇨기 바이오마커 조합이 PSA를 대체할 가능성도 있다.[6]
