A Kemiönsaari teacher's topless selfie intended for her husband has had unfortunate consequences.
News emerged on Monday that the woman working for the municipality of Kemiönsaari published a photo of her bare torso on Snapchat.
She said she had intended to send a 'cute picture' privately to her husband.
Instead, she posted it in her Snapchat 'story', making it publicly viewable.
She said seven people, two of them students at her school, saw the picture on the app before she deleted it.
The teacher said she had previously added students as 'friends' because she had used the platform for work, describing the social media app as a low-threshold way for students to contact her.
She added that she has since removed all students from her friend list following the incident.
"Indescribable anxiety"
The image continued to spread online after someone took a screenshot and shared it further.
She said she has had difficulty eating and sleeping since the incident, and has been shocked by the intense backlash on social media.
"I have felt indescribable anxiety. It is incomprehensible how judgmental people can be," the teacher told Svenska Yle.
She said she is now considering legal action against the adults who shared the image.
The photo has sparked discussion among students and guardians, with the municipality issuing a statement regarding the photo.
"It's our understanding that the picture was not sent to students on purpose," the municipality said in a statement on Monday, adding that students could talk to the school counselor.
