This spring's heat record was already broken earlier in the same afternoon, when the temperature climbed to 19 degrees Celsius in Ähtäri.
The new records come close on the heels of a heat record broken only the previous day. In Anjala, Kouvola, the mercury climbed to 17.8 degrees Celsius on Saturday afternoon.
The average high temperature in Southern Finland in April usually stands at around ten degrees Celsius.
Despite the unusually warm weather, this spring’s records are still well below the scorching 24.9 degrees recorded in Utti on April 24, back in 2000.
