Sunday evening saw the finals of this year's Timo Mustakallio Singing Competition, which was open to all Finnish singers born in 1980 or later. It was a good evening for sopranos as the second prize also went to a soprano, Alina Heikkilä. Both men and women competed in the same series.

The aim of the singing competition is to encourage talented Finnish singers to further develop their skills and abilities. For many past winners, the Timo Mustakallio Competition has been an early step towards a major career.
