On Wednesday the German flag carrier Lufthansa announced that it would be rolling back 600 domestic and European flights because of strike action by ground services staff.

According to the airline morning flights between Helsinki and Frankfurt as well as flights between Helsinki and Munich would be cancelled. Lufthansa operates daily flights from Helsinki to Frankfurt, Munich and Berlin.

Finnair said the strike will not affect ground services used by Finnair, and should therefore not affect its flights.

"We expect we will be able to operate normally," said information officer Satu Rennes.

The strike led by the trade union Verdi involves field personnel, baggage handlers and maintenance staff at Germany’s largest airports and is expected to last until 3.00pm local time.
