Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the Nintendo Switch enhanced port of Mario Kart 8 which was originally released on the Wii U. It incorporates all of the content from the Wii U version and its Downloadable Content, and further expands on it with additional characters and content.

Link, the Master Cycle, the Triforce Tires, the Hylian Kite, Hyrule Circuit, and the Mii Hylian Suit all make a return from the Mario Kart 8 Downloadable Content The Legend of Zelda × Mario Kart 8. Link and Hyrule Circuit are now unlocked by default, while the Master Cycle and its corresponding vehicle parts must now be unlocked by collecting a randomly selected number of coins.

In addition to the returning The Legend of Zelda content, the free Breath of the Wild Update (Version 1.6.0) released on July 19, 2018, added new content based on Breath of the Wild. This included adding Champion's Tunic Link as a new skin for Link. His in-game appearance is based on his default look from Breath of the Wild and features him in the Champion's Tunic and Hylian Trousers with the Sheikah Slate on his hip. When Champion's Tunic Link is selected, Link's kart symbol is changed to the Crest of the Sheikah, and he now wields a Guardian Sword++ instead of the Master Sword when performing tricks. The update also added the Hero of the Wild's signature vehicle, the Master Cycle Zero, as well as its corresponding tires, the Ancient Tires, and glider, the Paraglider.
