Ancient Gears are recurring Items in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2]

Location and Uses

Breath of the Wild

In Breath of the Wild, Ancient Gears can be obtained by defeating Guardians or finding them in Treasure Chests. They are also sold by the Slippery Falcon (Tarrey Town Branch) and the travelling Merchant Teli, who can be found on the road northwest of Hateno Village. As is the case with all Ancient Materials, Ancient Gears were made by the ancient Sheikah and used in their machinery. In spite of their age, they are still more advanced than anything else that exists during Breath of the Wild.[1]

Ancient Gears can be given to the Ancient Oven at the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab to make various pieces of Ancient Soldier Gear. Since they count as Monster Parts, they can be combined with critters in a Cooking Pot to make Elixirs. They can also be exchanged at the Fang and Bone for Mon or used as an ingredient for Gray Dye at the Kochi Dye Shop.

Ancient Gears are required to upgrade the following pieces of Armor at a Great Fairy Fountain.
