Estan is a recurring character in The Legend of Zelda series.^[2]^[3]

Biography

Breath of the Wild

Estan is a Gerudo who manages a Stall in Gerudo Town. She sells a variety of cooked Meat. According to Maike, a merchant at the Kara Kara Bazaar, Estan is her little sister.^[1] Maike tells Link that Estan knows Hylian well, and she recommends that he stop by and meet her.^[4]

When Link speaks to Estan, she greets him and asks what he eats for breakfast, lunch, or dinner depending on the time of day.^[5]^[6]^[7] If Link says that he eats Meat, Estan comments that he has good taste.^[8] If Link says that he eats vegetables, she insists that he must have meant Meat.^[9] Estan wonders if Frita, the Rito woman who stands near her General Store, has something against Meat, but she mutters that this is impossible.^[10] After Divine Beast Vah Naboris has been calmed, Estan is very grateful and thanks Link.^[11]

Estan tells Link that she once traversed across Hyrule Kingdom in search for the best Meats, which allowed her to learn common words in the Hylian language.^[12]^[13] Although Estan knows some words in Hylian, she usually mispronounces them, such as saying "tank you" instead of "thank you."^[14]

When Link buys Estan's Meats, she calls it a good purchase.^[15] If Link has bought all of her stock, she thanks him for doing so.^[16] Not only does Estan sell her wares, she will also buy Items from Link.^[17]^[18]^[19]^[20]^[21] When she accidentally says "sarqso" instead of thank you, she appears disappointed.^[22] She is grateful for Link's patronage.^[23]
