Katie Dear is related to the songs Silver Dagger and The Doleful Warning

The story follows two young lovers, who, facing the reality of the lack of support for their union from their family, decide to take their own lives.
Some versions of the song include a gendered back-and-forth between Katie and Willie. We found the universality of the star-crossed lover/forbidden love archetype to lend itself well to a queer version. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed figuring out the parts!
