Bartender's Tip Leads Police To Key West Buoy Arsonists

Above, a screen shot from a video of the arson.

A stupid act was preceded by a stupid act that took place earlier in a bar.

The two suspects in the arson fire of the Southernmost Point landmark buoy were apprehended from a tip from a pissed off bartender. The pair had been drinking earlier and didn't tip the bartender.

According to Fox 13 News:

KEY WEST, Fla. - Always remember to tip your server, if you know what's good for you.

A tourist made a big impression in a Key West bar by ordering drinks three times on New Year's Eve without leaving a tip. That enabled the staff to easily track him down after police released webcam video showing vandals setting fire to a Christmas tree.

The arson caused more than $5,000 in damage to the city's landmark buoy marking the southernmost point in the United States, and sent the island's "coconut telegraph" gossip chain into high alert, the Miami Herald reported Tuesday.

The bar's general manager, Daylin Starks, turned to recordings from the "ton of cameras" that watch over the bar each night, and matched credit card receipts to time-stamped videos of the suspects, identified by Key West police as 21-year-old Skylar Rae Jacobson of Henrietta, Texas, and 22-year-old David Perkins of Leesburg, Florida.

The buoy has since been repaired.

Southernmost Point Buoy Burned In Key West

Above, the two arsonists caught on webcam footage.

Two male idiots caused damage to the famous Key West, Florida Southernmost Point buoy when they set a Christmas tree on fire next to the landmark.

According to WSVN:

KEY WEST, Fla. (AP/WSVN) — Police in Florida are searching for two people who burned a part of Key West’s famous Southernmost Point buoy early New Year’s Day after setting a fire near the tourist attraction.

Authorities said two males lit a Christmas tree on fire in front of the buoy around 3:30 a.m. Saturday and the flames charred sections of the colorful, 4-ton (3,600-kilogram) cement monument that reads “90 miles to Cuba, Southernmost Point, Continental U.S.A.”

Archival webcam images of the buoy from a marketing company shows two people lighting the tree on fire near the marker, with the flames leaving a large black burn mark on the monument.

If anyone has any information regarding this incident, contact Key West Police at 305-809-1000.

The man who set fire to historic trees in Joshua Tree National Park's Oasis of Mara section has been sentenced in Los Angeles.

KMIR reported:
A 26-year-old arson parolee was sentenced Monday in Los Angeles to five years behind bars and ordered to pay $21,000 in restitution for setting fire to historic trees and brush in the Oasis of Mara area of Joshua Tree National Park, which straddles the Colorado Desert and the Mojave Desert and offers sweeping views, including of the Coachella Valley and the high peaks of San Jacinto and San Gorgonio.
George William Graham of Twentynine Palms started the March 26 fire by igniting a palm frond with a cigarette lighter, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Graham was observed watching the blaze and admitted to law enforcement officers that he started the fire, which consumed a number of historic trees and other National Park Service lands and natural resources.

Fire Damages Oasis of Mara At Joshua Tree National Park

An upsetting report from Joshua Tree National Park is making headlines.

Fox News reported:
LOS ANGELES –  A suspected arson fire at Joshua Tree National Park in California has damaged a historical landmark.
The fire that broke out late Monday damaged the Oasis of Mara, a site settled by Native Americans who planted the 29 palm trees that inspired the name of the nearby city Twentynine Palms, according to the National Park Service.
Strong winds stoked the rapid spread of the fire, which was contained at less than a square mile (2.58 square kilometers), Eric Sherwin said, a spokesman for the San Bernardino County Fire Department.

I remember first visiting the Oasis of Mara when I was around 5 years old right after my grandmother moved to Twentynine Palms. The Oasis has a nice trail with descriptions of different plant life, archaeological sites and other things of historical interest (including a girl's grave). I have revisited the Oasis about two more times.

I hope the trees are able to recover from the fire and, if is arson, the person responsible is arrested.

Illegal Alien Set Wildfire In Sonoma County

California being a "sanctuary state" has bitten it and, most importantly, the people in Sonoma County by having a wildfire and possibly deaths started by an illegal alien.

American Action News reported:
WASHINGTON, DC — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Acting Director Tom Homan confirmed on Thursday that a man arrested in connection with setting a fire in Sonoma County Wine Country is an illegal alien from Mexico who has been twice returned to his “home country.”
Homan also confirmed that ICE has issued detainer requests for Jesus Fabian Gonzalez five times now in the past year alone, including the one issued on October 16 in relation to his most recent arrest on suspicion of arson.

We can thank Governor Jerry Brown and the Democrats who control the state government for this.

Criminal Crazies Apprehended In Japan and U.S.

The United States seems to have more than its share of nut-jobs.

The latest is the apprehension of a suspect in sniper attacks against travelers on Interstate 10 in Phoenix, Arizona.

The New York Daily News reported:

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the string of shootings along Phoenix-area freeways that have kept drivers on edge for weeks, officials said Friday.
A spokesman for Gov. Doug Ducey says a man was taken into custody around 7 p.m. Friday in Glendale, a suburb west of Phoenix.
“BREAKING: We got him! DPS SWAT team is in custody of the individual suspected of I-10 shootings. Apprehended moments ago,” Ducey tweeted.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the suspect is 21-year-old Leslie Allen Merritt.

But we're not alone.

In Japan, for example, a series of arson attacks took place on electrical equipment that powers Tokyo's train systems.

Fortunately, a suspect has been apprehended.

According to The Japan Times:

Tokyo police on Tuesday arrested a 42-year-old man from the suburb of Musashino on suspicion of involvement in a string of arson attacks along railway lines in the capital.
They seized musician Izaya Noda, 42, after an individual was seen apparently trying to set an East Japan Railway Co. electricity substation on fire on Aug. 23. It was one of several such incidents during August and September, some of which disrupted train services and caused damage.
The Metropolitan Police Department said Noda admitted causing the Aug. 23 fire but denied obstructing business.
