Totally scamming business practices

Totally scamming business. I did not choose to renew my membership, and they just charged my credit card and renewed it anyway.

When tried to cancel, was told they required a phone number, and my current phone number was not associated with an account which is weird since I hadn't changed my phone number for many years. Tried to look up online, but their website was totally dysfunctional.

After a 3 HOUR wait for a tow with no assistance or answers on sight, I found another way to get a tow. I understand this is an extremely common experience with AAA. Our membership will NOT be renewed.

Poor communication/service

I called for service on Saturday July 21, at 6:37 PM. After navigating a phone call and a link, I was informed at 6:50 PM, by text, that service would arrive by 7:50 PM. At approximately 8:20 PM, I received a voicemail that there was a problem with service in the area. Apparently only one tow truck company is available in this area at night, and it had closed. We were told to expect assistance in 60 to 90 minutes. Great Barrington is a very busy summer resort town and this was a weekend where I would have expected a more robust availability of tow trucks on a Saturday evening. Hours later, I received voicemail from a NY towing service asking if I still needed assistance. I feel the communication was very poor. I was continually told I would receive a text informing me when the tow truck driver was on the way. This never occurred. I tried multiple phone calls to speak to a person, only to be forwarded by the online system. It was after 11 PM when assistance arrived. If I had originally been given correct information, I would have had the option of getting a ride to my hotel and arranging for service at another time.

AAA has a scam going on!!

I have been getting emails about a free first aid kit. I already have one and I am still getting hammered with them! I will NEVER buy into their services because of this!! Beware of AAA they are out to trick you into buying what they want you to have!!

I called for a tow 24 hours ago and got multiple different pickup times. AAA missed every single one of them.

Their failure will likely delay the repair on my van for an additional week and cost me a week of income.

I have been an AAA member for over 30 years. I will not renew.

There are other auto clubs available.

If anyone is looking for an amazing…

If anyone is looking for an amazing travel agent, I recommend our neighbor Christy Dannheim with AAA Travel. You don’t need to be a AAA member to use her services. We recently went to Switzerland and Christy made all of the arrangements for us. All we had to do was show up and enjoy ourselves. We were very pleased with how she put the perfect package together for us.

My daughter's car broke down last week…

My daughter's car broke down last week on busy highway. She called AAA at 10 pm. They always start every call with are you safe? My daughter says no,no battery so no lights or flashers, she is in breakdown lane. Do you want us to call police, she responds yes. The police come and put flares around her car while she wait for battery service She keeps calling AAA every half hour. At 1:30 am still no service and flares have gone out. Called placed to AAA at 1:30 am. Not a safe situation. No answer why this unsafe situation was not a priority.

It was time to renew (Nov 24)

It was time to renew (Nov 24), but AAA sent me 3 separate snail mail notices to renew, starting in Sept. A waste of paper, as I had auto renew. I decided to cancel because of similar complaints posted here. I called today and cancelled, and asked that my personal info be deleted. I was told they keep my personal info because I had paid them money? Unacceptable - I want my info deleted. I will file with BBB

I am very disappointed in AAA.

I am very disappointed in AAA.
I upgraded from basic plan to premium plan, got a receipt after upgrading and no where did it say there was a 7 day waiting period, paid $350 for a tow, tried to get reimbursed and was declined. Very disappointed and will not recommend AAA to anyone.
May even cancel membership.

Membership Charge Refund

Back in August I received an e-mail from AAA advising
membership fee would charge in September. Found proposed charge excessive and replied not to charge my card and cancel my membership. Then in September get my account statement with a charge from AAA in the amount of $117.00. Went to local office and was told they couldn't help me and gave me a telephone number to contact with my request. Proceeded on 10/23 with request to their main office and was told the refund would be applied and funds returned to my card within 7 days. Keep calling them and now today the refund would take from 10 to 15 business days to send to my card. Now I have to pay the full balance to my card that I don't use much and will have tied up $117.00 due to AAA crooked way to conduct business.
Will never again deal with AAA because they try to bait and switch with membership dues once they have your card in file and figure one would not check the statements from the card company and get away with their deceptive practices!

I have been a member for 13 years

I have been a member for 13 years. over the last year, I have had 2 terrible services. One I got stuck in a ditch. I called AAA, but they never arrived nor contacted me. The next morning I called, and they said the truck could not find me. more recently My son who is on the account broke down in AZ we live in CA. He had a trailer they said to upgrade from the plus to premium which I did. When he called for service they said he would have to sit on the side of the freeway for 48 before the service could be used. not only did they get me to pay more for my service they also refused to help in a hazardous situation. Looking for a more reliable roadside assistance service. F off AAA

Don't waste your money

I'm on the side of the interstate (with a child) at 1:30 am. AAA was called at 11:30 and no truck enroute yet.
(After spending over an hour trying to log a service request on the app that kept malfunctioning and telling me to 'try again later'.)
Twice I was given an arrival time and both times it was cancelled and the time extended.
I received a call from AAA 30 minutes ago and told them are "trying to locate a tow truck".
I found a tow truck service (4 miles away!) who said they could be here in 30 minutes.
$125 for the tow (My AAA"Premiere Membership" cost me $170)
I've cancelled the AAA roadside call and wondering why I even have it.

I've been a AAA member for 10 years and when I renewed this year my card now says 'Loyal member since 2024' like I just joined.
I'm not sure what's happened to AAA but it's not the same anymore and not worth the money. I gave them 1 star because they answered the phone.
They have not lived up to their promises and agreements and I would like a full refund.

worst website in the world

Overall, AAA is the best but its website is the worst in the world. Confusing, all over the place, seemingly made by amateurs. Never seen this in my life. . Otherwise as insurance per se, 5 stars

Don't waste your money

Have a premier plan, car was locked with the keys inside and running! Called at 9p, it's now 12:36 and 3 calls later, they have no idea when someone will arrive to assist. Needless to say, save your money and don't get AAA, canceling our membership, COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME.

Scam

Horrible customer service. They took a membership if $123.00 without my consent, not even an email. Please do not enroll on this scam.

AAA has Horrible service!

I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with the AAA roadside assistance service on 10/26/24. I was left stranded for over 4 hours, despite having made three separate calls to confirm help was on the way. Never contacted me or showed. Unsatisfactory service!!!!

Some great employees

I called AAA on 11/1/24. I was at 1125 Brighton ave in Portland me.
First let me say, they got there on time. Only one hr. They were VERY nice. It was a technician and a new guy he vwas training. Their names were Aaron and Marshall. Aaron being the senior person. Not only did these awesome guys get me and my car home in Sandford. THEY PUT A PLUG IN MY TIRE!!!! I have NEVER had a AAA technician go so far above and beyond for me. You should consider yourself very lucky having them two working for you. They give AAA, a good look. Especially since a little if people complain about the service they get( or don't get) . You need to recognize these great employees.
By the way, I NEVER leave reviews for anything. I don't figure anyone cares what I have to say, but I just had to leave one for this awesome service.
