PKR SARAWAK THREATS..??RUMBLINGS..!!

PKR Threats and Rumblings..? The Beginning of the End. When Gobalakrishnan was banned and Anwar took over as Sarawak State PKR liason Chairman the writing to many political watchers is on the wall. Even Sulaiman Taib in this malaysiakini report http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/95469 had ,”According to Gobalakrishnan, the deputy minister had warned him that he (Sulaiman) would finish off PKR in Sarawak.” The groundswell has certainly been growing daily as PKR and Anwar is everyone’s favourite “SOUP of the DAY” .Why..? Never has a day pass by without one not even uttering Anwar or PKR . Its Malaysians favourite topic though one would tend to believe that there are more pressing matters to discuss.

The local tabloids, internet blogs and malaysiakini portal have been keeping Anwars relevancy alive even after the failed 916. In any other country PKR would have been banished and have had served it’s “SOUP of the Day” and would be cast aside. But it seems that the world credit crunch has indeed blessed PKR into a formidable opposition front. Sure, there are many obstacles, dissatisfaction and personal grudges within PKR itself as any upcoming organisation would have to face.

The challenges of the PAS hudud laws in which Anwar remains silent, S  Manikavasagam( Kapar MP) testing PKR’s resolve and how Pakatan Rakyat remains an entity to challenge BN in the long term. Many, many, many questions will be asked about PR in the coming months and which entity BN or PR will survive these testing months ahead.??

Nearer home in Sarawak former PKR legal advisor See Chee How was quick to say that there are some within the BN fold that are still in the ‘DENIAL MODE”. He was referring to two statements on two different days which appeared in the English local dailies .

Firstlyon this issue by PBB Deputy President Abang Johari .” if he was not concerned about PKR and Pakatan’s campaigns in the coastal and rural areas of the state and he said we are not afraid.”Johari also felt that a trend seemed to be emerging in PKR whereby the central leadership was trying to gain absolute control over the organisation.

Saying such absolute control was not a good thing, Johari added: “If PKR and Pakatan are going to be the central government and everything is going to be managed by the centre, the question is whether it is going to be good for Sabah and Sarawak.”

Secondly, today while the recent goings-on in the opposition front do not seem to have rattled state leaders much, Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Dr James Masing appears to be more cautious. Masing warned Sarawak Barisan Nasional (BN) against ignoring the fact that Pakatan Rakyat (PR) had set in motion its political gears to lay siege on the ruling coalition come the next state election.

“The state BN is under siege from Pakatan Rakyat, if not now, it will be when the next state election comes,” said Masing, the Land Development Minister, in a New Year message yesterday.

“BN leaders both at the state and federal levels must not under-estimate such threat, and the ever changing political landscapes increase the danger the opposition poses,” he added. Though he considered this outlook a “grim and dangerous political scenario”, Masing said he was still confident that the BN would withstand the onslaught of Pakatan Rakyat when the day comes.

“Sarawak BN’s concrete development programmes and its past records will become the fortress of its defence in the coming state election.

James must let his actions speaks louder than his words as many in the dayak fraternity is looking at handling a big blow to the survival of PRS. The faction which was aligned to Larry Sng has not given up their cause of survival as they see this an oppurtune time to use another political platform to see the demise of PRS and James Masing. One of them when contacted said,”Do we have anything to lose..?” We have been PBDS,(Opposition to BN) and now (PRS to PKR) (BN to Opposition).

He also asked audie61 to refer to the words by the PRS president on his words on unity, jealouslybetrayal of trusts etc. etc. This is the extracted version ,”This objective of moving into the future as a united front cannot be achieved if our thoughts are governed by personal benefits and ambitions. Our thoughts, especially those of political leaders, must be governed by the ideology – ‘What is there for us’ and not ‘What is there for me’ when we plan for our people.

“And our people must reciprocate by putting their trust on tested leaders and not be swayed by ‘honeyed’ promises and crafty political rhetoric,” Masing said.He added that there must be focus on group objectives rather than on individual gains.

With that, he said they would have group strength at their disposal and the combined energy and resources would give them better option to fight whatever was thrown at them.

“Negative elements like jealousy, betrayal of trust, backstabbing, will be cast aside and positive thoughts will go to the fore,” Masing said.

So is the PKR Sarawak threat for real..? January the 9th is another date one should take note as Anwar and PKR SC will be here for a major roadshow for Sarawak PKR. We will keep you updated on this but the rumblings which was all about PKR assemblyman been removed as PKR State Chairman will for now take a backseat. Politics in Sarawak is now getting juicer and the people will still have to make their choice when the time comes.
