Kifle's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Education: Our teachers and our students are our future leaders. Therefore, we should provide our teachers the tools and support they need to do their best to teach our future leaders. We should encourage the state to lead partnerships between the teachers, students, parents and greater community in identifying meaningful ways to empower our teachers and engage and inspire our students.

Mental Health Services:

  • Our state's mental health system is broken.
  • My personal history with mental illness fuels my drive to find a solution for it. Two years ago, I lost my younger brother to a severe mental illness which led to his death. No longer employed and without medical insurance, he struggled finding adequate medical attention. This experience helped me see the cracks in our state’s mental health system and with only 50% of those diagnosed with mental illness being treated; there is a crisis and an urgent need for mental health system reform.[4]
