I am an Arizona native and parent of 3 current Gilbert Public Schools students and 1 recent graduate--still trying to get used to that! I am heavily invested in GPS on a daily basis and believe in the importance of strong public schools. My wife and I have been married for 22 years and the schools were one of the major reasons we decided to raise our family in Gilbert.

As an orthodontist and local business owner, I have the hiring, managing, and budgeting experience Gilbert Public Schools needs on its board. I am a longtime GPS volunteer and parent advocate, serving on booster clubs, PTSOs, site councils, and several district committees, as well as volunteering time giving oral health presentations district wide and donating money and goods to schools directly and through our candy buy back program.

Through this extensive involvement at many of our schools, I have developed relationships and learned about school operations and needs. In particular, serving the last 2.5 years on the district Master Capital Planning Committee has really prepared me for serving on the Board by helping me understand school finance, the current and future needs of GPS, where money can be saved and where money is wisely invested. I am running to make Gilbert Public Schools the BEST choice for families in our community and surrounding areas.
  • I am running to make Gilbert Public Schools the BEST choice for parents in our community and the gold standard for education in Arizona. Together we will do that by putting students first and focusing on academic excellence and student achievement, listening to and working with parents, respecting and supporting teachers, ensuring fiscal responsibility and transparency, improving school safety, enhancing career and technical education opportunities, and preparing students for lifelong success. I want every Gilbert Public Schools graduate to feel they received the very best preparation for their post high school goals.
  • Respect, listen to, and work with parents to educate and protect their children. Academic excellence and student achievement increase the more parents are involved and engaged. I will hold monthly town hall meetings for parents to ask questions and learn more about what is going on in our schools. I believe in school choice and will work my hardest to make Gilbert Public Schools the very best choice for all parents in our community and surrounding areas.
  • Together we will raise the standard of success in Gilbert Public Schools, creating a culture of excellence and enacting policies that ensure GPS students receive the education needed to succeed in life. It is important to involve parents and create tracts that students can choose based on their post high school plans. We need to have financial literacy and civics courses to prepare students for the real world. We need to increase honors and AP participation for college bound students and enhance career and technical education opportunities. Elementary and junior high curriculums will provide the academic foundation needed to prepare for those tracts at the high school level. Every student should feel GPS prepared them for their life goals.
I will have an open door policy and encourage parent involvement in every aspect of our school district. We will start holding monthly town halls so parents have an informal opportunity to ask questions, raise concerns, and learn more about what is happening in their children's school. The more parents are involved and engaged, the better the educational outcomes.
Public schools, and all institutions receiving taxpayer funds, need to be transparent and responsible to ensure money is used wisely to earn the public’s trust. As a volunteer on the GPS Master Capital Planning Committee and as a candidate, I have spent a lot of time studying school finances and pledge to go line by line through the entire budget to make sure every dollar is allocated in a way that maximizes student learning and achievement.
