I am a retired banker with 3 grown children and (so far) 2 grandchildren. I have before sought public office and wouldn't be doing it now except that I believe our elections have become corrupted. We will lose on every issue until we restore their integrity and regain the ability to fire our ruling class.
  • We must vote on Election Day, in small precincts, and count the ballots by hand.
  • remember the first key message
  • remember the first key message
drastically reducing the role of government in running our elections.
I have no wish to be a successful officeholder. I want to play whatever role I can in restoring integrity to our elections and then return to private life.
be humble about what government can and ought to do. Running elections is the job of the state legislature. That job should never have been delegated.
people trust the results of elections
selling doughnuts door to door. I think I did that for about two years. When I became old enough to run a lawnmower, I mowed lawns.
The Bible. It is the truth.
The Article 2 branch must enforce the laws passed by the Article 1 branch (no prosecutorial discretion) and the Article 1 branch must never delegate its power to the Article 2 branch.
Sure, but those relationships must serve the interests of the voters who sent you.
Borrowed, I think, from Ronald Reagan: "I saw a poll recently that revealed that 100% of those who favor abortion have already been born." (I think this joke illustrates well the attitude of our governing class toward election reform.)
Emergency powers are inherently Article 2 powers. They should always be controlled closely by the Article 1 branch.
the corruption of our elections prevents government accountability.
All legislation should go through the Article 1 branch. Ballot initiatives are a terrible way to govern.
