That is a stylish colorful car! I feel bad for those 585 people who have to have that in their collection! :O

What an odd little set.

Ah, I remember when bungee-powered pull-back cars were all the rage in Technic. I had the "ordinary" bungee dragsters in red and yellow. I played with those to death; the white bungee cords are permanently deformed.

But by the time I saw the Cyber Slam bungee choppers (there is a teal one identical to this one), I was already burned out. Besides, the other Cyber Slam sets looked far more interesting.

I had this as a kid. The drive train was shaky and the bungee cord quickly lost its spring because I wound it up too tight, but I have to applaud the Technic design team for trying out a brick-built pullback motor instead of going immediately to the sealed units that have been used ever since.

Given how many times I dealt with broken bands and/or elements in the Klutz Crazy Contraptions book; and a windup motor build utilizing a band; I'm curious just how prone this is to failure.

It's a good thing that you don't have to stick with this design after the rubber band wears off. There are enough wheels to build a tiny little hotrod, with some extra pieces of course.

I miss that old bright purple color. It was used a bit in the old Bionicle waves, Slizers, and other turn of the millennium era sets.

Unrelated to the post but I just saw my minifigs tracker decrease by 500. This is a problem from a while ago, I don't know what causes it.

I got one of those bungee cord pieces in a mixed lot of technic parts back when I was much younger, could never figure out what it was supposed to be used for. Even though it was tied onto the reel part, I wasn't even sure if it was actually part of the Lego or if it had just got in the box by mistake... I think, in the end, I decided on the latter and threw it away.

I guess this belatedly answers that question, though xD;

I have to be honest, the only thing that comes to mind for me when I see this is
Yuck!
