The Huwbot uprising has begun!
Why didn’t they cancel this set with the word platoon in the name for violating company policy
Heck yeah, I used to love this set!
"...and we shalln't stop awkwardly waddling all up in your face until you give us what we want and invent Mixels ball-joints."
These use existing parts, are not a part of a standalone theme with a fancy backstory and TV show; and yet they look way cooler than anything with a ton of marketing and PR behind it that used new parts and all sorts of limited-use new parts. Oh, and a delicious price of just ten bucks--for 218 parts!
Funny the whole military stance got brought up--as one of them is Desert Tan with one huge bazooka! You know ,it also reminds me of the Bastion from Overwatch (don't play the game, only reason I know it exists is the set range); even though it predates the game by over a decade.

I know right?

This might be a joke, but just in case, it’s probably because ‘robo platoons’ aren’t actively used in war.
More of this, please.

It was indeed a joke. I assume that would be the justification though (:
Loved that set. It saw more play, and MOCed variations, than almost any other that I can recall playing with my kids.
Between this set, the similar 4097 Mini Robots, the weirdly named 4099 Robobots, and especially the magnificent 4508 Titan XP, the Creator Designer series had some really fun robot/mecha designs.
Robo Platoon here to remind you that their lord and savior Huwbot needs our support on Lego Ideas.
I've pledged my support, have you?
Look at all those alternate builds, why don't we get sets like these today?

... that we know of.

Absolutely. Oddly enough, this was the only one I didn't own of the bunch. My 4508 MOC remains standing after 15 years.
Platoon...
That’s a militaristic term right? And it doesn’t look like this was cancelled or anything...
Not only that, but unlike the Osprey, this set had more appeal to kids instead of teens and adults. Shame on you LEGO!
But then again, this would be in a fantasy setting so feel free to forget this.
Come on guys, it's clearly called platoon just because it sounds cool. These robots are far more power rangers than military anyway.
I had this. Must have been one of my first ever sets. I think it was disassembled and became part of my lego box quite quickly as I remember a lot of the parts appearing in many of my MOCs growing up.
Angry young Mixels out to cause trouble.
This set is amazing!
Fun fact: these robots have modular accessories. They each have clips on their arms and a bracket 'backpack', so they can freely switch armour, weapons and other devices. The red one even has unused extra clips on his 'backpack', presumably to store his weapons when not in use.
I also love how, like 4097 Mini Robots, they each seem to have a different role: artillery/communications, meelee, and scouting (air kung fu?). Speaking of 4097, this set feels like an upgrade to that set, with sleeker, more effective designs and more modern colours.
And I didn't even mention that it's a creator set. The design of the main model is already creative and quite effective without mentioning the rebuildability of this set. True, it consists of multiple colours, but if you get beside that you can build some great custom robots.
They really need to produce a modern version of this set with mixel joints. There's something great about seeing so many joints and so many buildable characters in one affordable set!
Small scale mechs, before mixel balljoints, great!

That's exactly what they want you to think
Neat set- I missed this one, and I'm printing out these instructions. This perfect for MF0.
I'm not going to joke, I'm going to be completely serious. LEGO would not release this set today. If they can't find the balls to release the Osprey, which is no more or less a "weapon of modern war" than a Huey or Hilux is, they should break their contracts with their IPs and terminate their internal IPs like Ninjago. Or they should grow up and respond appropriately to "peace loving" bullies who use extortion and other threats. Especially German ones.

So many straw man arguments in this comment section and your's takes the cake for being the most outraged and absurd one.
Hiluxes were never designed to be technicals, they were just durable, cheap and fit enough to do the job of a fast gun truck. Huey's have way more uses than just the military. The Osprey was specifically designed for the military and doesn't have a civilian version. You honestly should be more outraged, that Technic is plagued by bad sets being "justified" by Lego with useless licenses for the last few years. Raise your standards!
If it was a run of the mill swivel rotor transport aircraft without a license, the set would be just as good, cheaper and therefore would potentially sell better. Lego shot themselves in the leg with the whole license nonsense and I hope they'll learn from it.
I own this, it seems. Don't think I ever build these robots though. I guess it went straight into the parts bin...
Ah, another of my favorite childhood sets!
