By in United States,

I bet this was an Inception type moment for some people when they first saw it.
LEGO sets within LEGO sets?
BRAAAM!!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I would definitely buy a rerelease of this...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I never had this one but i had 7848!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Still looking forward to building mine! I wish I’d gotten the TRU version as well…

Gravatar
By in United States,

As interesting as this was, I was happier about 7848. Why? Because it gave us our first modern blue fenders. I bought five copies of it because you only got two fenders per set, and that gave me enough to make my first two blue cars. I did buy two copies of this one, and I believe those giant logo stickers are what I used for the large sign in front of my LEGO Store, while the set box stickers from both ended up populating the shelves inside.

By in United States,

Ah yes! The second RSOTD that I own! One of my favorites too.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

For me, this set truly brings to mind the period of its release. The design is not necessarily exceptional, but I remember this set being so incredibly common in seemingly every shop throughout 2010 and 2011. Everywhere I went, this truck stood out on the shelf!

Good times...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I like how the truck is delivering a mini version of itself.

Gravatar
By in United States,

And 7848 has not been RSOTD yet, so we will see this truck one more time.....

@Isabella_and_Lego_Liker:
Maybe. With more than 365 eligible sets being produced annually now, plus a large backlog, it stands to reason that many sets will never be picked.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I absolutely adore when LEGO sets include smaller LEGO set stickers in them. My favorite have been the 2016+ Ninjago sets including cards from the old Spinjitzu game, hopefully one day all the cards will have a minifig-scale version!

By in United Kingdom,

Definitely needs to come back in some form.

I picked the Toys R Us version over this one, and kind of regret it. Although the Toy Store it comes with is neat.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Oh, I remember buying this one plain as day. It was in WHSmiths, back wall of the store, on the bottom shelf. I was a kid then, so the £24.99 I paid for it felt like so much more money than it actually was. The Toys 'R Us one may have more to it, but this one is the classic.

By in Canada,

Always liked this set. I think its cool how, if you looked at the box, you saw the box, and within that, yet another box. Could be endless...

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I can look to the right and see this sitting on my shelf right now. Funny feeling to see it pop up here.

Gravatar
By in United States,

For you folks that own this set, you're lucky. What a great one this is. Love it!

By in Canada,

What makes this set stand out for me is the designer notes from HA; his set design list is like a history book (many, many rare and special sets are credited to him including the 7239) and truly one of the greats in the annals of LEGO. Here are his remarks for this set:

This assignment was given to me in the afternoon, during my sleep the following night I woke up with the most of the design in my head ( it happens for a lot of LEGO designers ) , the following morning it was built and ready .... super fast process

By in Canada,

Wish I had gotten this...actually wish I got the Octan Semi that came out at the same time (3180), but this cab is waaaaaaaay better:). I mean the tire are tad small, but...

I'm probably should pull the instructions from somewhere, modify w/larger tires, and go from there:).

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I’ve got this in a bulk buy sitting in my storeroom!
With instructions and all the little LEGO boxes!
Will make this a priority to build at some stage, it looks really great.
Fingers crossed I have all the parts…

Gravatar
By in United States,

Everything about this set is good. The size is good. The cab is good. The trailer is good. All the little printed Lego bricks are good. The yellow (all the yellow!) is good. 2008-2010 was the recent height of Lego City.

Set is an easy A grade.

By in Singapore,

I can't help but feel like that rendition of the LEGO logo, with the red seemingly "bleeding" out of the black border, would've been some kind of violation of their trademark guidelines.

It’s akin to dividing by zero, or buying a bag and the cashier puts the bag in a bag - could tear a hole in space time!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love this set! I unfortunately learned of it just a few years too late so had to pick it up for more than it original sold for. But worth it, such a great set, especially with the boxes of itself in it! I have a vignette in my display case of the truck parked and the worker carting boxes over to my 918 to be transported to the lunar colony (it gets pretty dull there and the few shipments of new Lego sets they receive every year always brighten their days!).

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I am sure this truck is based on a Volvo truck. Looks good I have the real one.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I picked up this plus two of the TRU version. Why?

Because 6391-1 Big Rig Truck Stop was a favorite set as a kid. When LEGO started getting the City vehicles in order, I started collecting. Some of my favorites from the 80s never got a “remake,” but enough did.

I love them!

Gravatar
By in Turkey,

I think this set still has a chance today, still looking fabulous.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The only negative I had about this set is the one I got had a slight color variation in the plates that made the roof of the trailer. Small annoyance and easy fix, though. Pairs nicely with the box truck from 60097.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

The model trick is being loaded with small versions of the truck, which I can only assume are being loaded with even smaller version of the truck which are being loaded with yet smaller versions…
The absolute smallest version, I assume, is built directly out of protons and neutrons XD

By in United Kingdom,

My son bought this set with some saved-up money a year or so after its release, when he was three or four. He's now thirteen, but this set still sits proudly on one of his bedroom shelves.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

No one's mentioned it yet, but I immediately thought of 2148. Looks like a tribute to that really cool set.

Scary stuff. What keeps me awake at night is the knowledge that dropped buttered toast always falls butter-side down and cats always land on their feet, so what happens when you tie buttered toast to the back of your cat and nudge it off the dining room table... a hole in space time seems the only sensible outcome. Or hover cats.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

This was one I tried to save up for as a kid. 'Tried' being the keyword.

Still a good set.

Surely a tribute to 6692

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

For a city vehicle the inside of the cab was great with a bed and flat screen tv! The designer seemed to have made the truck a few bricks longer than usual in order to fit all this in. Similarly, a 32 stud trailer was far longer than usual, almost as if the designer was seeing if anyone in cost control would notice.

Was about to say the same. I have 6692 and it's like the great-granddad of 3221

Gravatar
By in United States,

My cousin passed this set on to me when they got rid of most of their LEGO. I absolutely adore it! It’s not fancy, but it is still an excellent set.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Great set and happy memories.
This was my eldest son's first 'proper' (i.e. not Duplo) Lego set that he got for his 5th birthday.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Why is it called "Lego City Truck" rather than just "Lego Truck"? I guess it only delivers Lego City sets.

At Lego City Airport, the all-new LEGO® toys have arrived - and a truck is needed!
HEY!
Build the great Lego truck.
Load the toys!
And get going!
Drive the truck to Lego City, and save the day!
The new classic Lego Truck!

By in United Kingdom,

Is it any coincidence that this set came out the same year as Inception?

@LegoSonicBoy:
I don’t think their logo is that strictly defined. Besides, sticker alignment is fickle enough that leaving a red border on all four sides is the only way to guarantee you get a consistent black border on all four sides. You could just run the black off the edge, but the thin black line is a defined part of the logo. You could try to trim the sticker precisely at the thin black line, but then you’d risk any slight alignment issue chopping one or more edges off, and then leaving a red border on the opposite side(s). You could try to print the border in yellow so it blends in with the trailer, but any shift in alignment could result in yellow showing inside the black line, and red showing outside. Or you just run the red off the edge, print the black border line with enough room for error that any normal print alignment issue will result in a clean black border line that’s not so off-center that it appears misaligned on the sticker.

Indeed! I love Lego sleeper cabs, of which there haven't been too many over the years. Just a shame the back wall has two large openings because of the panels, but that's easy to fix.

By in United States,

My brother had this one and I still have 7848 together (it's on the floor to my right as I'm typing this). Pretty simple set, but lots of play value!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Love this set...
I remember getting it, as it was the first time I had a set withminidcfig scale Lego sets within it.

Have since bought several of the sticker sheets from it, and have a huge collection of MF scale Lego sets !

Gravatar
By in United States,

One of my most favorite LEGO sets I have. Im a trucker and love LEGO. Perfect together :D

I have this as 10156, the 2004 re-release. I also own this RSOTD set as well.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I re-purchased this one in april 2021 after I originally owned it from 2010-2016. I sold off most of my city sets because they took up much space and the theme was 97% vehicles in its early years. I just didn't feel like it was that necessary to keep them. That's still the case for me, actually.
Anyway, I felt super nostalgic for this one and I still feel the same way. There's just something so charming about it. And it has a lot of interior space and even some commodities like the bed and screen. Not to mention the classic colour scheme. But at the same time it was modern for its time and still feels like a succesful design and build.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I recently bought this set because I love these type of Lego Brand sets. I started collecting all the Lego brand sets a while ago and most are really neat like this truck and the Lego brand store sets like 40305.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I just realized this is the 1337th random set!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I had the TRU version. Great truck, and my biggest Lego semi. For all you people talking about "trucks within trucks," consider that this set was once itself within a truck. Presumably, this is where it stops.
