Prince of Persia was barely a blip of a movie, but the LEGO sets were not terrible: parts-packs, mostly, rather than memorable sets, but excellent parts packs. I never had this one, but it looks in line with that assessment: ostriches, Middle Eastern fig parts, weapons, brownish/tan parts... nice enough, for that limited purpose.

Those ostrich's are adorable.

Like many people, I got this for the family-sized chickens. I did not, however, get any of the bumpy horses.

By in Australia,

I never bought this set, but I know I have a couple of those ostriches in my parts collection.

These were on sale at the Lego store - at least in Virgina. 50% off. I got one of each (except the polybag) for under $100. I wish I had gotten 2 of each! Such great parts.

I can feel another addiction forming. I need to stop looking at Prince of Persia sets...

I wish I'd gotten this one; the only PoP set I got was 7571. For that matter, I wish the ostriches and camels had been more widely available.

I got this set. My only regret is the lack of black, white, and neon green.

Come, join us on the Failed-Film-LEGO-collectors side. Don't be afraid of the Prince of Persia sets. (just don't touch the Lone Ranger sets... Those are all mine!)

That was one of the best train sets that Lego ever sold.

7597 was another. Out of this line, I got this, and the cheapest set for a camel.

Even back then you didn't usually get a lot of exclusive new animal molds in a cheap set, so I know I picked this up for the ostriches for sure. The build is wonky, but they tried to have an opening function for the gate for the races, which was a nice attempt at a play feature, even if I don't remember it working very well.

Me? I just want a couple/few ostriches to go with the knights from yesterday...Yes, one of my fave video games "OF ALL TIME"...sorry; is "Joust", why do you ask...:D

Ah what a great theme! Everything built out very well and matched the Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Ark sets so well. This set in particular raised my Ostrich farm nicely.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I found the ostriches from this theme super cool! The rest of it... eehh

By in United States,

Hard to believe LEGO hasn't released any regular System sets with more ostriches.

I got this set for the llamas. They’re incredible. I may have gotten two! (Oh no wait Brickset says I bought three!)

It’s an awesome set for the money.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Excellent part packs, don't forget the camels either

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Today this would be a City zoo expansion pak and cost $50.

PoP, a very underrated theme from a lame movie. I think this was one of the first Disney Licensed themes too.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I use the ostriches for Shyguy.

Androids? I hear they dream of electric sheep.

A real shame the ostriches from this set don’t seem to have appeared anywhere else. Not even in those Safari sets from the new City subtheme

By in United Kingdom,

Remember all the PoP sets being heavily discounted at JohnLewis online just before Christmas one year, and waiting for a delivery to arrive before I could head to family for the holidays.

Was definitely the market set x2 and I have a number of ostriches so must have got a couple of this one as well.

Bought an ostrich on BrickLink last year at a good price, and got one extra for free :-)

Never felt too attracted to this set, as the build looked too small and of too little use to pique my interest.
That said, I miss the times when there were enough good 20 euro sets that this passed as merely middle of the road. Sure, we've had 12 years of inflation. But spending the same amount on what feels like a 10 euro set just doesn't scratch that same itch. Nowadays this would definitely be 30+ euro already... probably 35.

Also, shirtless Dastan was a nice inclusion to this set if you collect fleshies. Good thing that the sane year the CMF series 2 came with the surfer minifig for a yellow equivalent for us inhouse theme fans!

Those Lone Ranger sets are incredible! I've picked up the big ones and I'm very impressed.

This set is great too.... as an ostrich battle pack!

I thought the movie was pretty good for a summer blockbuster. I did end up with all of the Prince of Persia sets although most were bought on deep discount. The Castle set was brilliant.

Llamas?

One of the two guys that rescued the continuum transfunctioner got them confused with llamas.

@CCC:
Sure, why not? Specially trained Ecuadorian mountain llamas, Venezuelan red llamas, Mexican whooping llamas, North Chilean guanacos (closely related to the llama)…

Yes, I bought this set just for the shirtless piece! I repurposed it for a shirtless Wolverine.

Don't forget the very rare Danish singing Llama*! I hear one even got a record deal and made a single. (it didn't go far at all)

(*This is a Viydio reference for those who forgot or tried to forget)

By in United States,

Yes! These were some great sets. The market and Alamut were some great builds.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I found a body of an Ostridge in a bulk lot but no head. You could say that I'm a "head hunter."

Gravatar
By in United States,

This is probably one of those sets that I could build just by looking at that picture.

I collected the entire line in part because I thought so much of it would supplement my Indiana Jones stuff so well. I got at least one of each of the six sets (including the Brickmaster polybag), and two of each of the three smallest retail sets (including this one), helped in doing so by the 50% off clearance pricing I saw across the entire line at a number of places several months after the theme’s release.

The theme was honestly pretty great - solid builds, plenty of useful new part molds (including a couple new animals, new minifigure hair & headgear, and even a new half arch brick), and nary a sticker in sight. I really wish I’d gotten more of everything.
