C'mon, you gotta love a belt-fed banana gun!

That, and classic cartoon-like bombs with plant stems for fuses....

Assuming they're an enemy (I don't really know Chima lore, I just bought some of the sets), the bird may seem outnumbered, but as long as they can avoid being shot down, they do have the advantage of more dimensions to maneuver in.

By in New Zealand,

I bought this second hand, and actually built it before pulling it apart for parts. I think it would be cool to modify it so it can take Grod from 76026

By in Australia,

I was so tempted to buy this, back in the day, but I remember reading a negative review (that said the mecha was poorly-constructed and didn't balance well).

So I passed. But I am regretting that a little, to be honest.

I. HAVE. THIS...!!!:D
I see it atop my 'lego-case' (can't really call it a bookcase), w/Samurai X's mech (ver. 1) vs. Lex Luthor's mech (ver. 1)...Think Lex would rather be dealing w/'Blue Boy'...:)

By in Germany,

If made today, it would be same size, same look, twice the part count and twice the price.

I kinda feel like this would fit right into the Dreamzz theme. It's modern enough, and quite zany.

Halve the number of minifigs while you’re at it.

But really looks like a fun set nonetheless.

Oh man, this was one that I really wanted. Wasn't the biggest Chima fan, but the banana gun just seemed so cool!
Just watched Jang's review and wow, this set has far more functions than I initially thought.

Banana gun? I prefer the coconut gun. Not only can it fire in spurts, but if it shoots ya, it's gonna hurt!

Shoot the banana fast enough and not only will they fall over, they will be covered in banana goo.

Ah, Chima, the intended replacement for Ninjago... I remember at the time disliking most of the sets, but I was desperate to get my hands on all of the new weapons and accessories that were introduced. The figures I couldn't stand. Looking back now, they have some useful torsos and legs, but the heads still look pretty bad to me.

This set fell in the looks pretty bad category. I liked the bombs and banana gun, but the set didn't interest me except for the previously mentioned new elements. I liked those red leaves though...

By in Turkey,

I liked the figures and animal based mechs and vehicles in this theme but never saw a set that I really wanted to have. Maybe 70003

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Man, those Chima mechs were cool!

By in Poland,

Shame they changed the design. Prototype was better

@PurpleDave:
Hmmm...season 3 of "Superman: The Animated Series" by Timm and Dini...I am 'shamed', the local station carrying said series 'dropped it' mid-way through said season; so I missed the final war between Earth and Apokolis...But I DID see "Justice League" and "Justice League Unlimited", so I also know this:
Lex (for the most part) would rather deal w/"The Man of Steel", than "The Fastest Man Alive":

Say what you like about the China sets but you can’t deny they were never lacking in character

@PhantomBricks:
There was a single Croc minifig that had a one-sided head that I was able to use to make Suicide Squad Killer Croc. The bird and bat wings have proven useful. And as tiresome as it was to get that one same Speedorz pack with _EVERY_PARTIAL_ORDER_, the Chi crystals do make a nice ice ray.

@brick_r:
You have reason to be shamed. Just about all of the DCAU is available on home video (I think they’re still missing part of Project Zeta, but no big loss there).

And frankly, any of the main Justice League could probably put Luthor in shackles. I’d probably be most worried about facing one of the ladies. They were the two biggest bruisers on the show, thanks to the producers’ policy about not having Superman wipe the floor with everyone while the rest of the team stood on the sidelines.

Oooooh! Bannanon!

Pretty sweet mech. And rich with potassium on top of that!

Well...the 'shame' come more from not seeing it "live"...but I have seen it since (In fact: here in Canada, CN Canada runs a rotational block on DC stuff every night after 9PM...Adult Swim's its own channel up here)...Wish we had THAT style of Supes, instead of..."current" animated Supes (or I guess "Sailor Supes" now:))...anywho;

(Forgot to add at the start) The Set: It's good, only "bad" thing is the limiting of mech-ape's articulation in the shoulders (they pivot like a Fisher-Price Adventure Person, not like, say a G.I. Joe that mimics the ball-socket of a shoulder...)

The ravens or whatever are the enemy, the eagles are good.

There’s a giant recreation of the mech at Legoland California Water Pack, specifically in the Chima area. I was there during my 2017 and 2018 birthday trips and the giant mech always stuck out to me.

By in Germany,

I always convinced myself this set had a detachable head that could be added atop the torso when I saw it in catalogues and lego Club magazine, because it always looked incomplete to me without one. Suffice it to say i was very confused when nickonplanetripple pointed out the two ROOF TILE 2X4 W/ANGLE on top as symbolising eyebrows in his lego chima rewind...

Looks like something out of Warhammer 40K

Yes its a monkey head. The exhausts are nostrills.
The prototypes (also noticable on art) were just bodies with tiny head sticking from it. Way better!

Chima is wildly overhated,next knights wasn't the best,hidden side had a good potential,and VIDIYO was VIDIYO.

Compared to Gorzan himself, the Gorilla Striker is bigger, faster, and stronger too.

I love this set.
Sadly don't own it, but it's one of the most fun mechs out there!

The ravens were enemies at the start. During the fire and ice waves all of the original villain tribes joined the good on the fire side.

As a big fan of Lego mechs, I profoundly disagree that it'd be the "same size, same look". This was a decently impressive mech design at the time, but Lego mech design has come a LONG way in recent years. The Ninjago movie in 2017 was a big inflection point when it comes to mech size and shaping, and recent Ninjago mechs have featured improved articulation as well.

This set, by comparison, was designed a decade ago and LOOKS like it was designed a decade ago. From the simple shaping and detailing to the somewhat clunky use of Hero Factory parts for the hands and shooter assembly, it really doesn't compare to post-2017 mech designs. If a set like this were designed today it'd probably feature more refined shaping and detailing, better articulation and proportions, and yes, admittedly, probably a higher price and piece count. But 10 years makes a hell of a difference in Lego design, and there's really no mistaking a set from today for one like this.

The only Chima set I purposely acquired- and just got it last year.

Animal mechs are fun.

If made today, it would be a Hulkbuster.
