Who's going to be the first to post the theme song lyrics?

*sigh* comments on the interwebs are predictable

Is this set any good? Probably not.
Is it at least a faithful representation of the neighborhood from the show? If you squint, possibly.
Do I own it? Yep.
Why? I have absolutely no clue, I think it was a gift.
Best thing about it though are easily the trans-pink chef hats as jellyfish. That was a genius move.

My second set ever! Right after the Krusty Krab. This set got so much usage out of me. I especially loved SpongeBob’s spring loaded bed and the pull back car. It’s a shame Patrick’s house was never remade during the theme’s run. That new Mario set with two flying pirate ships includes two quarter brown done pieces that are pretty darn accurate.

I pray we see this license again some day. In any capacity.

Still the most accurate version of the houses we’ve gotten, and the only one to include Patrick’s rock.

Honestly remove or replace the door and Squidward’s moai house would make a pretty good addition to a ruins set up

I've long ago dismantled the set, but all the minifigures remain as permanent members of Jabba the Hutt's court.

IMO best SpongeBob set with 3825.

We have all the spongebob sets (besides the second iteration of the krusty krab and spongebobs house). I’ve estimated that when we sell them (which we will) they will go for aroud £1000+ in total. And that is in used condition. I remember we used to set up an entire bikini bottom. Good times.

These early Spongebob sets always had some seriously janky features. Like the eyes on Squidward's house here, or the jellyfish cart with glass panes. But the Avatar range had those too, and arguably even worse.
For those who don't know lego pitted those two themes against each other. And SB won.

Looking back those features made these early sets all the more unique. Playfeatures can't be a bad thing :)

My sister (who was like 7 at the time) used to sing the theme song with the words "Stupid little Yellow square" inserted whenever SpongeBob Squarepants was supposed to be sung. She was not a fan of the show.

@PurpleDave I have the other set with the pineapple. It gets turned into a pumpkin pretty much every Halloween.

I’m guessing 3834 over 3818? 3834 definitely has a more spherical shape.

I really like how this reuses the 4Juniors (technically Jack Stone) Pirates' giant Skull rock piece without being to obvious xD

Large form elements DO have their purposes!

Only just now have I realized that the name of this set is a sexual innuendo.

Bikini Bottom is basically the ocean surrounding bikini atoll, which is where the US tested ALOT of nuclear bombs in the 1950's and '60's, and the show uses footage from those tests to show humongous explosions from time to time. (side note: The Bikini clothing item was invented after those tests started, and was named after the atoll. I don't know why they did that, but that's fashion for you!) This is all according to Stephan Hillenburg, who taught ocean biology for a time and was the creator of the show.

The bikini swimsuit got its name because it was "smaller than the atom". That's the connection to the bomb testing at the atoll.
