Cool.

By in United States,

Huwbot's on a bit of a vehicle kick lately. Where's the spaceships?

By in United States,

I thought using katanas as windshield wipers would look so cool, but then they cut my windshield off.

By in New Zealand,

Can I take it for a spin? I mean, it's not like I won't return it or anything.

Ask Elon Musk. And Vin Diesel.

By in Malaysia,

At first I thought this can't be the car featured on a Tony Stark billboard in a screenshot of LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2013 I remembered coming across. I suspect it was 31006 which is more to minifigure scale.

Why can't we have these compact cars in the US? Its always about the giant SUVs and pickups, and even the full-size sedans can be a bit excessive. The Chicken Tax and Malaise era legislation are the bane of my existence, and a giant thorn in anyone's side if they need an actual work vehicle.

I mean, you can always drive a Smart Car, if you really want to know what soccer balls feel like.

I mean, I guess it's kinda cool, but I wouldn't call this cool enough to name it after being cool, just a nod your head kina cool. Ya know?

That would explain the lack of one in the picture…

By in Turkey,

There are some interesting functions in it but design wise it will not turn heads for sure.

Caution: "Cool Convertible" is mostly only 'cool' when driven 'converted' in winter; which is not recommended, nor endorsed.

By in Denmark,

I got this one for €1 at a french fleemarket.

16-wide is definitely too cool for school... or minifigs.

Just because it’s the same sort of colour and shape as a fridge doesn't automatically make it cool

You have Mazda MX-5 and it's way cheaper than in the EU. You also have Toyota GR86 which we don't have and Nissan Z which we also don't have. Sure it's bad with those SUVs and pickups, but at least you have a choice.

By in Germany,

I guess the 'cool' part of it is that the 'convertible' roof can be opened and closed 'automatically' manually

Over here in Europe we just call it a Smart.

I'm not calling my EX30 a Volvo Car either, for example.

By in Finland,

This car literally has one of the best functions I've ever seen on a LEGO car: the roof pops up when you turn the lever on the side and the cover moves simultaneously on and off. It's quite simple but works like magic, and it fascinates me every time!

In my opinion, Cool Convertible is one of Jamie Berard's great works along with the modulars.

By in Australia,

I think whether you love the look of this or not, it's still a really quietly important set in Lego's journey - there was always something about it that was just a little bit 'next level' and somehow more mature than the other store-shelf offerings of the time.

Just take a look through the other 2008 offerings and a lot of what this does makes other sets from the era look very amateur.

Feels like a forerunner to the expert/icons line of cars.
The Creator line produced some great cars and houses back in the 00's.

By in United Kingdom,

I have the banana yellow cousin cool cruiser 5767, and these large creator vehicle sets have lots of useful curves and plates in reasonable quantities for making other models which you don't get in the small creator vehicle sets or creator tubs. I always wondered if these were scala doll scale?

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I love the pop-up roof feature here. The bodywork is finely done too!

Let me introduce you to buyer choice.

Actually, that’s what the box art seems to recommend!

@R1_Drift: I still remember the time there was a Mini convention staying at the hotel I worked at. One of them had a shirt on that said, "It takes a big man to drive a small car." I told him, "As the owner of a Metro, I love your shirt."

@Rabrickzel: If My MOCing skills were up to snuff and if most of my collection wasn't in storage, I'd be sorely tempted to try making cars that Toa could drive. Granted, 8536 and 8571, among others, would require modification to enable them to be able to sit, although it'd be an easy mod.

Over here in the US, we want to make sure nobody mistakenly thinks we’re referring to the IQ of a driver who would dare venture onto the freeway with vehicles that could fit that 2-seater coffin in the back with the hatch/tailgate closed, and being driven by speeding, texting drivers.

@TheOtherMike:
I’m in a Fusion right now, and that’s about as small as I can go and fit everything in for certain shows. And I’m the guy in my club who specializes in small stuff.

By in United States,

Is this supposed to be based on a real car?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Mayor Stephanie claims to have had one of these. But hers wasn't really all that cool.

By in Australia,

My science teacher brought this set in one day to show us atoms, or molecules or something like that. That’s all I really remember about that.
