I always remember wanting this set, and I still do. They need to make a new version. That would be awesome.

Cool model for 2009, has some interesting SNOT, and use of lots of technic parts for stuff like the dumper

@darthdrauf: If you don't like you don't need to take a dump on it.

Of course not. You don’t dump _in_ it. You dump _with_ it.

By in United States,

This is a great set. It’s a nice update to an ancient Town set, though significantly larger. The only real complaint I have is the rearview mirrors never want to stay put.

And it’s a shame because they’re held on with space robot arms.

This is working hard today. Because it dumped 10332.

Sounds like you found the cause of your own problem.

Not just a new dump truck. They should make another Construction sub-theme! Apart from some Great Vehicles sets, we haven't got a full Construction sub-theme since 2009 (unless you count the 2015 Demolition sets).

I agree. I had a few demolition sets and they were great, but the theme needs an update.

Because of it’s underbite? Don’t blame it, it was designed that way.

By in Netherlands,

I wanted this set so much when it came out because this reminded me of 6581 Dig n' Dump. Alas, I didn't have the 20 euro to spare back then.

And I only now realise that this came out the same year as 8264 Hauler that was a RSotD a few days ago. I never did read the catalog up to the technic section, apparently.

2009 was the year of the dump truck, apparently.

We could use a construction subtheme again! It used to be a pillar of City next to Fire and Police!

This still looks good. Well done for the size.

Are we just getting a big yellow truck every Friday now? Because I wouldn't be against that

Dumps like a truck, truck, truck

Great to see a working dump truck using Technic parts for the shaping rather than some one-off molded piece allowing it to be used as parts for other mocs, together with the large wheels, and the price was good value as well!

One of my really early sets after my dark age. It is a great little set too.
Does what it’s meant to, you aren’t looking for more and it still looks good today.
Very reasonably priced at the time too.
I agree with others, the City construction theme around this time was seriously good. In fact it wasn’t just the construction sub theme, we had the harbour, garage and coast guard sub themes amongst others. Many could do with a revisit. Although that said, if they do I hope they don’t ruin them and make them sufficiently different.

There's a couple of stickers slightly out of alignment. Even LEGO employees struggle with them.

Two days of good old City sets in RSoTD, thanks Huwbot.

By in Belgium,

I like it! In fact, I'd probably buy it today if it was new...

LEGO really has not made a minifig dump truck recently, that wasn't 4+ 60391 : Construction Trucks and Wrecking Ball Crane or Technic 42147 : Dump Truck

I suppose 60386: Recycling Truck is a dump truck variant, just fully enclosed, and there's also the ramp on 60406: Race Car and Car Carrier Truck which could be changed .

I'm sorry. Just for a second i thought this post was about Donald Trump.

By in United States,

I think LEGO really nailed the look on this one. Everything functions realistically, and there's a ton of details (even mirrors!).

Even if licensed, I wish we got more minifg-scale construction equipment in System. When Mega had both the CAT and Deere licenses, there were System-type sets. Lego has them both now, and so far, every set has been Technic.

So tempted to go through the database and make some suggestions.

Ah yes, the good old days of 2009 Lego.

Don't bother. 7598 hasn't been eligible for nearly three years.

A dump truck. I have nothing to say about this.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@PurpleDave: That was my first thought, but I immediately realized that it's already bee taken out of the running.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I was always weirded out by the gratuitous Technic panels here. I know I'm not the only one with some internalized bias about which Technic and System parts are "allowed" to go together. Lego has in recent years been more open to putting System bricks in Technic, and vice versa. Segregation is silly.

And since the Duplo version isn’t allowed, that eliminates all of the important yellow trucks.

By in United States,

I don't remember this one at all, but I think it's an exceptionally good Lego set. It looks really good, it's a good size, it has a very interesting mixture of techniques, and it's very nicely detailed, but it's not so insanely intricate that it looks like an AFOL's MOC no child could ever tackle. The big rocks look like they would be a lot of fun to dump, and the street accessories are a special extra touch.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@PurpleDave: I take it you don't consider 7789 important? Admittedly, most of my fondness for that one is more due to the fact that it's from Toy Story than anything about the model itself.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@TheOtherMike:
I mean, it is Toy Story, and they did do a good job of capturing the look of the source material...which just happens to be inspired by Fisher-Price's Little People line. Given the subject matter, Duplo might have been a more appropriate choice. Also, that is by far the most unfortunate choice of head for a minifig.

Dump truck go *vroom*

Yeah, I got nothing.
