The clock fits nicely in 10228 Haunted House, which is where I have put mine.

I wish I'd been able to get my hand on the updated ghost figure.

Monster fighters is in my top 5 favorite non licensed themes. I miss it so much.

By in Australia,

I didn't buy enough Monster Fighters sets. I know I wound up collecting all the little crystal pieces, because I thought they were cool, but I didn't buy many of the sets at all.

I really regret not getting the train.

By in Canada,

First time I had a ghost was with 6081, which I bought with money from winning the Québec version of the Double Dare TV Show.

That ghost was quite the novelty back then. But like many of Lego's more "unique" figures, it got stale quite quick, as you definitely can have too many ghosts.

Unless you're ghost army building... or MOCing the worst kind of meetings.

Argh! I've just come back from a tramp on one of New Zealand's great walks, only for Huwbot to scare me with this!

They should bring back the glow in the dark ghost piece.

One of the worst metal bands ever, 0/10, but a nifty little set, 14/10.

What are you talking about? That metal band is so solid even a ghost can’t get it off its ankle.

By in Netherlands,

A lovely polybag, albeit a bit static. I guess the ghost can possess the clock for play value?

Anyway, it pairs well with the Haunted House and provides another ghost for Lord Vampyre's army. That said, this one's unique as all the others either have a brick skirt like this one (but no chain ball) or legs.

Back in the day I acquired mine with Bricklink orders for the loose parts because the set itself was difficult to find. It's my only Monster Fighters set I had to resort to that for. Fortunately the parts are relatively easy to come by. At least, they were back then. The fig can aso be bought as its two other variants with the parts for the chain seperately.

By in Germany,

The look on the ghost's face when it notices that it's 19 minutes too early.
;-)

Anyway, the theme I sadly missed that brought us one of the, imho, best LEGO sets of all time in the form of 10228.

It's also unique in that it's got a noticably powerful glow-in-the-dark effect, even when compared to other Monster Fighters-ghosts.

This thing is great. Monster Fighters was great. I will die on that hill, and then return to haunt your grandfather's clock."

GOAT ghost.

By in United Kingdom,

Monster Fighters came right at the end of my parents' "LEGO ban", so I was able to snag a few of these just before they left shelves. I didn't manage to pick up this polybag, but was able to put it together from pieces I already owned (minus the ball and chain, though I was able to find one of those a few years later).

It's a nice grandfather clock design, and one I'd still like to build a few of as details to go in various MOC projects.

Though needless to say I'll switch the 1x2 brick with clip in brown for something else - the one I used back in 2012 broke in no time!

Great grandfather clock, good to get it in a cheap polybag.

I can't believe parents still try to ban children from toys. My family is full of hard-nosed educators, engineers, business leaders.

Thankfully, my grandfathers showed that success has a great deal to do with retaining that flexible, understanding, imaginative, childish appreciation for toys... and life.

I still have some of the toys my father and grandfathers kept as adults. They are gone, now. I haven't thought about this in quite a while.

Perhaps I have a lot more to thank them for than I have realized.

See you later, Space Cowboy...

I also first got a ghost with 6081. And, on the subject of mysterious parenting bans, it's kind of surprising I did, because my parents had a strong aversion to "occult" things in LEGO sets, including ghosts and skeletons--and Islander idols. (Which, like... would never have occurred to me: to the extent I had any idea what the many statues were in that line, it was "Easter Island.")

They mellowed on it when they realised we weren't turning into godless heathens, but it's probably just as well that Monster Hunters wasn't a theme in about 1995.

Monster Fighters didn't deserve to go out like that. I'd love to see LEGO reboot it!

Although... maybe that's what Hidden Side was supposed to be... hmm... never mind, maybe it wouldn't be that good of an idea.

No. My vengeful spirit will effectively be clockblocked. On the bright side, it'll do wonders for my wailing."

My grandfather had a great one. It was a cuckoo. Is that acceptable?

Hidden Side had some great sets. I ended up getting more of them than the Monster Fighters (getting 10228 did eat a lot of the Lego 'budget' though).
Still want to get this clock set (and a few of the other Monster Fighters).

I was just thinking back to the big Dungeons & Dragons scare, when parents were all in a tizzy because “playing D&D was going to cause you to worship the devil, or kill yourself”. Given that the game undoubtedly attracted some people who were already badly in need of psychiatric treatment, I couldn’t help but wonder how many of them actually did harm themselves, only because the public outcry convinced them that that’s what they _had_ to do after playing the game.

Gravatar
By in United States,

He’s freakin out because he’s late for work. He was supposed to be haunting people 5 minutes ago.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Really need more, and/or modern sets that are affordable with glow in the dark ghosts. They were some of the best mini-figs ever.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I think this is my favorite polybag ever! A glow-in-the-dark ghost with a ball and chain, and a clock. Perfect little spooky set. I unfortunately only managed to get one, as they sold out super quick.

Gravatar
By in Turkey,

I have the little black ball, and the chain and couple of bandits. I guess one of them will be able to move more freely. Good idea.

Gravatar
By in United States,

With regard to parenting bans (so, *so* glad I never experienced that), more people need to understand that "we don't stop playing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop playing."

My gaming group had a member (that I never met, as he left the group before I joined) whose therapist actually told (or recommended, or suggested, I don't really know the level of forcefulness) him to join the group to help with his social anxiety. I know joining the group helped me with mine.

Social anxiety is one thing, but if someone has an extreme form of schizophrenia that’s not even diagnosed, I could see them maybe playing into those scenarios solely because they’ve been convinced that this _will_ happen.

I rarely get multiples of sets, but I had to for this one... accordingly to Brickset, I have five of them! I got them at Target back in 2012. Only opened one of them though (so far).

No, the problem with Apollo 13 was mechanical, not psychological.

I've seen Toy Story a bunch of times, but I've never thought of Andy like that. This does bring up some thoughts along the lines of the series finale of St. Elsewhere.... I.E. is everything the toys do just happening in Andy's mind? and where does Toy Story 4 / the TV specials fit into this scenario?

No, Zoltar really did make him as big as the mermaid who helped him swim back from the island.

I think it's because people are probably celebrating 4/20 a day early.. or maybe it's 4/20 somewhere in the world already?

(The only reason I know this is a thing is because of the DJ on my Sirius XM radio was talking about it. I don't do drugs.)
