By in United States,

Insectoids is the best Space Subtheme! Well okay, I'm also quite partial to Life on Mars and Mars Mission, too, but Insectoids was just so cool, and it featured my three favorite colors, not to mention the sweet translucent parts, magnetic stickers, and then some really cool metallic colored prints. Don't be a hater, love the bugs!

By in United States,

I'm so happy we're getting a new insectoid minifigure in the new minifigure series 71046

By in New Zealand,

Alternate build on the front of the packaging!
Also, I wouldn't want this buzzing around trying to sting me.

The only mosquito that I would allow to stay in my house.

By in Netherlands,

I'm sorry, but if I was out by the camp fire and these were the mosquitoes I was seeing, i think I would invest in a fallout shelter. lol

According to the inventory tab, this set contains https://brickset.com/parts/4199394/plate-3x4-18%C2%B0 But, when looking at the picture or the Bricklink inventory, you can clearly see that it's the notchless version. I wonder what other sets have stuff like that lurking in their inventories.

If you're refering to the Dark Blue Beetlezoid, 71046-10 , that has more in common with the Buggoids from Galaxy Squad when you look at the printing.

Yup. Definitely Galaxy Squad. A new Insectoids minifigure would be great.

There are still a few space themes that need some throwback love.
Alien Conquest - Possibly too new, and got a few supplementary CMFs while it was still fresh.
Unitron
UFO
Spyrius
Space Police II (III even maybe?) (SP-I had 71029-10, and SP-III had 71029-11 for the Aliens, but could still use a police guy.)
Roboforce
Mars Mission
Life on Mars
Insectoids
Futuron (Perhaps a pack like Benny's Space Squad)
Exploriens

That's enough for another CMF set right there.

Let me know if there are reference minifigures for these themes I've missed.

By in United Kingdom,

The only Mosquito I wanted came from de Havilland.
Not much chance of Lego releasing one of those, so had to make do with a Cobi!

Insectoids my beloved!

@DaLegoNerd1:
Apparently he can nom on a minifig's head.

@TheOtherMike:
Lots. If Version B replaces Version A, TLG updates set inventories to reflect the new elements where possible. They can't really do that until the new version comes out in the same color, but once it does, Brickset scrapes all that data from the LEGO servers, so local set inventories will automatically update to reflect that new element.

If there is one mosquito anywhere in the city I live, it will find me and bite me. I can’t remember a spring in my life where I have not been bitten by one before all the snow melted.

I'm more partial to Galaxy Squad, but those Insectoid minifigs are great!

On one hand I love it because it's Space. On the other I hate it because give me sets, not collectible minifigs! Also I'm not a Ramblin' Gamblin' Man and I'm not going to gamble in lego lootboxes.

By in United Kingdom,

Which is funny because my Eurozone-located self 6817 is the Insectoids Mosquito craft. Even get a long pointy nose to fit the theme.

Incidentally, when the UK names get added to the Insectoid sets like that? I’m sure they just had the US ones last I looked. It’s a much appreciated feature

Don't let this humble set fool you... if you find one, get it! The minifig is a great one, from 6977 Arachnoid Star Base (sans shoulder pads) and ONLY that set outside of this one. It even has leg printing, so it's most likely the leader of the Insectoid faction.
Not bad for a set of this size huh?

Besides that, the craft is nice with a printed slope and even some propulsion and defense canons/searchlights. There's also a Voltstone crystal mcguffin, but this one comes without the sticker.

It's from Kabaya so it won't be easy to find one outside of Japan though...

By in Turkey,

I like these smaller Insectoids sets. They look more like Classic sets than larger Insectoid sets.

Fortunately, many of the Kabaya sets can be bricklinked for relatively low prices.

Considering Unitron and Roboforce is where I get my sigfig's head, I probably should mention them. I was born in 94, so I know my very late 90s through 2000s sets better because I grew up with the sets of that time, I distinctly remember opening sets from the box. Any older Space stuff I got, even as late as 97, was through donated collections of parts, which is where I got that head for my sigfig.

Stay away from places like Alaska or Isle Royale in June…

@Arnoldos:
So learn to tell them apart, or buy them pre-opened.

@jkb:
Unfortunately, some of them do still have exclusive parts. Same with the Japanese Coca-Cola promotions.

By in United States,

From the second-to-last gasp of the original space line! Life on Mars was the dying breath, until 2007 and they reanimated the line for a decade or so with several themes here and there. Then 2024 rolls around, and we Spacers can eat good again. (Feast and Famine...)

(Also on an unrelated note: today I officially go from being a TFOL to an AFOL!)

Agreed,I Bricklinked all the Kabaya Insectoids sets quite easily - but the original Lego instructions are pretty much impossible to find!

Probably every set which had was available during a part transition (so yeah, really many...)
Things even get weirder when a set was released with a major design change, like 79104.

On the set itself, it's funny that this is the only set to leave the 'Voltstone' without it's usual sticker.

At least in the UK lore, the leader was https://brickset.com/minifigs/sp029 ; this guy was the head scientist, Professor Webb. Still a pretty important guy in the insectoids faction, in any case! I believe it was said that he was the one to develop the designs for their ships that disguised them as giant bugs, but I could be misremembering that. To my regret, I never spent much time on the Insectoids character profiles on the Lego website, and I haven't been able to find them archived anywhere else online since then.

Probably because it isn't a subtheme of space on Bricklink. A throwback to Rock raiders would be harder because each character was unique and there was no uniform or colour scheme. They would have to throwback to one specific figure. Like they did for Adventurers.
