By in New Zealand,

These small holiday scene sets are so cool, although they are just a bit too small, because there is only one goal and there is very limited space for the minifigs to play ice hockey.

Those aren't hockey sticks, those are wooden golf drivers!

What do you expect with only one hockey net?

If it's an ice skating scene, then why are they playing ice hockey?

It must have been a ruse to make you want a second set.

I’m pretty sure those are solid pine bindles.

Is that a frozen slide?

Welcome to toboggan runs, where you pour water down a concrete chute until it’s coated in glaze ice, and then a bunch of people hop on a thin piece of wood and attempt to set land-speed records for non-motorized travel by humans. It’s kinda like luge, but without the blades, and the only turn on the course is also your brake.

I guess they'd already gotten rid of the mold for 8804-8's hockey stick by the time this set was created.

This was a fun GWP. For some reason, I just can’t say no to them.

Don't they still use that piece even now?

Pops up quite frequently in winter themed sets and advent calendars. Has even seen use as the runners on sleds a couple of times, something the mini-sled here could have maybe used

Ah, the good old days of Brick Friday GWPs only requiring a $99 purchase -- not $100, so you could get to $99.95 (or even $99.00) and not have to worry about hitting $99.99 or more.

I got this free with the previous year's Winter Village set, 10235 Winter Village Market.

The Winter Village set released the same year as this GWP was 10245 Santa's Workshop -- which had 40106 Toy Workshop as its matching GWP released one month prior to this one.

Talking of GWPs, it must be at least a week since TLG announced a new one. They must be slipping...

:-)))

I have had multiple experiences where TLG has rounded up my purchases by a penny each to get me to the spend threshold.

Was that telephone ordering? I ask because it never happens for me when ordering online.

They forgot to wear helmets if the puck can hit someone’s head!

It’s whifflehockey, played with a lightweight plastic puck that has holes in it.

This was a fun set. I remember our LUG having a huge shipment of these from LEGO (maybe they had too much stock?) and in one of our meetings we all got a free set, but we had to build something completely different out of the set. That was fun. I built some sort of monster that was eating the people. Sadly I didn't win. Someone else built an even better monster and won. Theirs deserved it for sure.

$99.99 counts as $100. $99.98 doesn't. Same with every other threshold, such as $49.99 for $50 and $179.99 for $180. Buy a set that is basically the exact price as the threshold and get the GWP, but you're going to have to go over if you're stacking multiple sets. Plenty of people have complained about "having" to spend $104.98 or more.

When it was a $99 minimum instead of $100, you could have multiple sets like the $69.99 Santa's Workshop and then a $19.99 and a $9.99 to get there.

I said all of this before, but for some reason folks feel a need to unnecessarily argue with something that was accurate the first time.
