Not much of a winter camp!

She's got a fancy mirror and all, but her tent isn't even enclosed to the elements and the bears!

Given the lack of any kind of meaningful protection from the elements, and the two bear cubs playing nearby (where is the mother bear?), shouldn't a more accurate name for this set be, "Carla's Frozen Death Trap"?

Were Scala dolls scaled off the existing cup element?

There’s a story that needs telling.

Carla did not properly think things through...
Poor location of camp being right next to a bear's den, improper construction of the tent to provide proper shelter from the elements, and she is out in the frigid wilderness on her own with nobody else to help in case of something gone wrong.
This is the only set Carla ever appeared in, and it's not hard to see why.

Due to the improper tent sent up Clara's expedition team did not survive the cold. She was the only survivor. As the days rolled on and rations ran low, she was forced to do the unthinkable...

(legal disclaimer that this non-canon lore I'm making up on the spot right now)

Carla: “The cave is collapsing!” The bears: “This is no cave!”

I’m glad that LEGO finally succeeded at the whole “doll LEGO” thing. Lord knows they tried and tried and tried.

We will make it canon lore.

I sort of want to get my hands on one of those skis and one of those ski poles, just to compare them to their Technic equivalents. Also, the set's database entry, "Parts" tab actually has data from Lego, not Rebrickable, which mildly surprised me. It's only eighteen percent complete, but still not what I was expecting. What's more, the figure was among the pieces listed!

There’s literally NOTHING in this set that looks remotely like LEGO!!

I can’t recall a more NON- LEGO set that I’ve ever seen!…..

By in Netherlands,

Lego call it "Carla and the Bear Cubs"

Whatever else it might have been, peak money-losing late '90s/early '00s Lego is always interesting!

Does that ice sheet have connections underneath? It looks the cut out fits in it too- it would be an interesting entrance to a hidden base.

By in New Zealand,

Hey! At least she's wearing clothes, unlike some other Scala dolls...

Is that cave far away or very small?

Indeed.
What I find faszinating is the fact that despite containing less than 200 pieces this set has parts in 25 different colours!

Looking at whose logo is on the flag I'm pretty sure this is the -bear's- camp and Carla is just visiting

I adored this set in the catalogue as a kid. Cloth wannabe-tent, bear cubs, rare boulder element, lots of accessories, unique tree and bushes from foam. I was on board and I still think this offered excellent play value.

Does anyone know someone who really enjoyed Scala, who fondly reminisces about how long they played with it, and how they collected as much as they could!?

Carla made a rookie mistike when hiding from My Dad:

Thinking you can hide from My Dad

The bears and the elements will be the least of her worries soon...

baseplate? gas canister?"

And, of course, the all-important sausages.

More like Carla's winter camp until momma Bear comes back and sees her near her cubs

Such an odd era of Lego. From far away you'd think this is an offbrand product.

My daughter had a lot of Scala lego. She was very fond of it and prefered it to Barbie. Then Bratz came along and everything changed...

We still have this set however. It had a lot of play value, and we liked how the building instructions were sort of trying to tell a story.

Mama bear is likely still hibernating in that cave. If Carla gets the heck out of Dodge before she wakes up, she may yet survive. But a lean-to is poor shelter in snowy conditions.

Thinking you haven't seen Galidor.

I know 2000 was THE year of Arctic... but this set doesn't look like the rest of them.
